The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is investigating a gasoline theft Thursday where the suspects, who were in two vehicles, drilled a hole in the gas tank of the victim’s van as she was inside the vehicle.

The victim reported to the Carson City Sheriff’s Office that the suspects drained the gas tank into a bucket at Lowe’s, 430 Fairview Drive in Carson City, at around 3 p.m., said Carson City Sheriff’s Office Detective Sam Hatley.

Surveillance video shows the two vehicles parked near her as multiple people stood on either side of the victim’s van. Scroll and click on photos from the video to enlarge.

The victim confronted the suspects who then fled in the two vehicles, a silver Ford truck with California plates and a dark-colored Chevy Tahoe SUV with possible Nevada or California plates.

The victim stated there was a white male adult driving the SUV, described as having had dirty blonde to brown hair in and in his 30’s. The victim stated they heard but didn’t see a female involved, who sounded like she was a “girl” in her 20’s or 30’s.

With high gas prices, thefts are on the rise, said CCSO Detective Hatley.
