A 39-year-old woman was arrested Thursday for suspicion of felony DUI causing substantial bodily harm and other alleged offenses, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office booking report.

Following an investigation, CCSO deputies arrested Gracie Booth. She was also booked for alleged misdemeanor open container and driving with a suspended license. According to the booking report, at approximately 6:42 p.m. Thursday, Carson City dispatch advised of an injury vehicle accident on Race Track Road and Schultz Drive.

A deputy arrived on scene and learned from another deputy that the driver was verbally uncooperative and trying to walk away from the scene. The deputy stated they believed the woman was under the influence of alcohol, the report states.

A deputy observed a blue newer model sedan parked in the middle of the road with a missing front bumper. As the deputy approached the sedan they observed the driver standing with other deputies and immediately noticed the woman swayed as she stood. The woman had slurred speech as she spoke with another deputy. As she spoke, deputies said they could smell a moderate odor of alcohol emanating from her, the report states.

The responding deputy informed the investigating deputy that as he first contacted the woman, she admitted to driving drunk and that she had the car keys in her hand as well had emptied the contents of her pocket, which included Chapstick and a small individual serving-sized bottle of alcohol, all of which the investigating deputy observed on the ground.

The responding deputy also informed the investigating deputy that a female passenger jumped from the vehicle after an argument within the vehicle. When the passenger exited the vehicle, she lost a tooth and sustained injuries to her ribs, the report states.

The investigating deputy made contact with the driver and began speaking with her. The deputy observed red, watery eyes. She was asked if she would be willing to participate in a standardized field sobriety test, which she initially agreed. The deputy returned to their patrol car.

When the deputy returned the woman stated she no longer wanted to submit to the tests. Due to her not submitting to the tests and the signs of impairment, the deputy placed her in cuffs. The deputy asked the woman if she would be willing to submit to a preliminary breath test. The woman agreed and provided a breath test of .317, the report states. She was read the request for voluntary evidence for blood or breath. The woman denied both, the report states.

When the deputy walked back to the sedan, they informed the other deputies of the outcome. The deputy observed multiple empty and full personal-sized serving bottles of alcohol and a vape pen believed to be a THC pen on the roof of the vehicle, which were located within the sedan during an inventory of the vehicle, according to the report.

The woman was taken to the hospital to get medically cleared due to her alcohol level. Because the woman refused to the request for voluntary evidence, the deputy advised the woman they would be applying for a warrant to draw her blood. The deputy made contact with the on-call district attorney and a judge. The warrant was granted and two vials of blood were taken while she was at the hospital. She was then taken to jail and booked for the alleged offenses. Bail: $50,000.
