A 34-year-old man was arrested early Wednesday morning for suspicion of misdemeanor reckless driving and driving with a suspended license, according to a Carson City Sheriff’s Office arrest report.

According to the booking report, at around 1:25 a.m. a Carson City sheriff’s deputy was on foot patrol in the area of 400 West Winnie Lane.

The deputy heard the sound of squealing tires and observed a red colored SUV turn East onto East Winnie Lane at a high rate of speed. The officer continued to observe the vehicle, which abruptly turned south into a parking lot near a casino.

The officer then observed the same vehicle suddenly accelerate north across East Winnie Lane into another parking lot. At the same time the officer observed 2 pedestrians on the sidewalk near where the SUV appeared to enter the parking lot with its lights off, according to the arrest report.

The officer returned to his patrol vehicle and located the SUV parked facing north in a parking lot and then drive to another parking lot at a high rate of speed, crossing all lanes of travel without slowing or stopping. The vehicle lights were off when it entered a nearby RV park, the report states.

The officer entered the RV park to look for the vehicle. Another deputy radioed that the SUV had just “shot past” him with the vehicle lights off. The deputy activated his red and blue lights and pursued the vehicle, which traveled north through the RV park, coming to a stop near an apartment building, the booking report states.

The driver was arrested and taken into custody for suspicion of reckless driving and driving on a suspended license. Bail: $1,274.
