Nevada State Police, Highway Patrol has identified a Reno woman who died in a crash on Jan. 16, 2025 near Smith Valley in Lyon County.
Christine Roberts, 81, of Reno, died at the scene of the crash, according to NHP.
At approximately 5:45 p.m., NHP responded to a report of a crash on State Route 338 at mile marker 26 near Smith Valley.
The preliminary investigation indicates that a Chevrolet Malibu, driven by Christine Roberts, was traveling south on State Route 338 and a Freightliner box truck was traveling north on State Route 338.
For undetermined reasons, driver Roberts drove into the northbound travel lane. The driver of the Freightliner drove into the southbound travel lane. The driver of the Chevrolet Malibu drove back into the southbound travel lane where the Chevrolet Malibu and Freightliner collided, according to the NHP preliminary investigation. During the crash the Freightliner overturned and landed on top of the Chevrolet Malibu.
The Nevada Highway Patrol Traffic Homicide Unit is investigating the crash.
