The Carson City Sheriff’s Office is pleased to announce that applications are now being accepted for the highly anticipated 2026 Citizens Academy.

This unique program provides an opportunity for community members to gain insight and firsthand experience into the operations and responsibilities of the Carson City Sheriff’s Office.

The 2026 Carson City Sheriff’s Office Citizens Academy will commence on Wednesday, March 11th, 2026, and run through Wednesday May 27th, 2026. Classes will be held every Wednesday evening from 6:00 pm to 9:00 pm, at the Carson City Sheriff’s Office located at 911 E. Musser St. Carson City, NV 89701.

Interested individuals are encouraged to pick up applications at the Carson City Sheriff’s Office front desk, located at 911 E. Musser Street. Carson City, NV 89701. Due to the limited availability of spots, early submission is highly recommended.

The program is limited to 25 participants, ensuring an intimate and engaging learning experience for all.

The Citizens Academy offers an exclusive opportunity for community members to engage with Carson City Sheriff’s Office law enforcement professionals, learn about their day-to-day operations, and foster a stronger bond between the Carson City Sheriff’s Office and the community it serves. Participants will have the chance to gain valuable knowledge about law enforcement procedures, explore different divisions within the Sheriff’s Office, and engage in interactive discussions and activities.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Office encourages all interested individuals to seize this unique opportunity by submitting their applications at the earliest convenience. Don’t miss out on this chance to gain firsthand knowledge and insight into the world of law enforcement.

Rules and Requirements:

  1. Participants must be at least 18 years of age.
  2. A Criminal History check will be completed on each participant.
  3. Participants are required to wear appropriate clothing attire. (Business casual)
  4. Participants are required to conduct themselves in a professional manner at all times.

Failure to comply may lead to dismissal.

  1. Participants are not permitted to carry weapons at the Citizens Academy.
  2. Class size is limited to 25 participants. Priority consideration will be given to persons living and/or working within Carson City.
  3. Participants are highly encouraged to attend all twelve (12) classes.

Graduates from the Carson City Sheriff’s Office Citizens Academy will have the opportunity to complete an application and possibly conduct a ride-a-long with a CCSO Deputy.
