Head-on crash at Highway 50 and Flint in Carson City; three taken by air ambulance
UPDATE 1:43PM: The head-on crash in Carson City on Highway 50 near Flint Drive Thursday morning involved a silver Mitsubishi sedan, occupied by a male driver and a white Kia Soul sedan, occupied by a male driver and female passenger, said Nevada Highway Patrol Trooper Chuck Allen. All three were flown to Renown Medical Center in Reno. Their conditions are unknown. The road is now re-opened.
Carson City fire department and ambulance crews are at the scene of a head-on crash involving two vehicles Thursday in the eastbound lane of Highway 50 and Flint Drive. Three Care Flight air ambulance helicopters have been ordered.
Three people are said to be critically injured and required extrication.
Reports are there are two vehicles, with three people trapped. Extrication of all three was completed at around 12:17 p.m. The crash was reported at 11:43 a.m.
Highway 50 in both directions is closed.
Emergency crews from Lyon County and the Nevada Highway Patrol have also been called to assist.
Care Flight helicopters landed on the east side of Highway 50. A third helicopter, from CalStar, was ordered by emergency personnel at 12:10 p.m.
