With rain and snow in the forecast on Saturday night, the first Star Party of April at Jack C. Davis Observatory (JCDO) will focus on the Artemis 2 mission.
JCDO Director Dr. Thomas Herring will share pictures and video from the mission and talk briefly about future Artemis missions. The Artemis II crew is scheduled to return to Earth on Friday, splashing down just after 5 p.m. near San Diego.
Attendees can also tour the telescope room and learn more about the universe from Dr. Herring and observatory volunteers.
The Star Party starts at 6:30 p.m. at the facility, which is located at 2269 Vanpatten Ave., on the northern end of WNC’s Carson City campus.
The public is invited free of charge.
