The event will feature live music by Mike and the Liabilities Band, led by retired Carson City District Court Judge Mike Griffin. There will be a ho-host bar, hors d'oeuvres, raffles and a silent auction. Cost is $30.

Sponsored by Healthy Trees, a dedicated group of local volunteers can be seen up in the tree tops on any given morning. With an abundance of fruit that would otherwise go to waste, the Fruit Barons make sure it reaches the community instead. Foraging 275 pounds on their first day, Fruit Barons are still welcoming fruit tree donors please call (775) 220-6330 to donate. Gearing up for their second season Fruit Barons share the bounty with local organizations including FISH, Advocates, Rom Woods, Senior Center and many more.

Carson River Cleanup Day
Submitted by admin on Wed, 09/14/2011 - 10:41amJoin us for Carson River Cleanup Day, Sept. 17 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Activities include cleaning the Carson River, Brunswick Canyon and Prison Hill Recreation Area, along with wrapping trees with chicken wire to protect them from beavers.
Participants will be at the Bureau of Land Management's Carson City office at 5665 Morgan Mill Road. Lunch will be provided for all participants at 1 p.m. For more information call (775) 721-8006.

Bat tests positive for rabies in Carson City
Submitted by admin on Sat, 09/10/2011 - 5:10pmA bat in Carson City has tested positive for rabies, according to Carson City Health and Human Services. There is NO known human exposure to the bat. Rabies is a deadly viral disease that affects the central nervous system (brain and spinal cord). People get rabies from the bite of an animal with rabies. You can also be exposed to rabies if infected saliva or tissue containing rabies gets into a fresh wound (one that has bled within 24 hours) or the eyes, nose or mouth.
Seeking volunteer for Carson City Airport Authority board

The Airport Authority is a 7 member board that oversees all matters pertaining to the Carson City airport.
There is a position open for a four year term that will expire 10/2015. The Board of Supervisors will interview and appoint qualified persons to the board. There is one opening:
