Carson Street from Fairview Drive north to Winnie Lane has been closed in preparation for today's Nevada Day Parade, according to Carson City Public Works.

It’s Nevada Day weekend, and that means the annual parade and festivities will bombard downtown Carson City with thousands of revelers. I made the decision to put all of the parade related events into a separate list for a few reasons: one, this list would be way too long otherwise; two, Halloween fun is plentiful all weekend long; and three, I want my list to be as easy to read as possible. Read on for events throughout Carson City, Carson Valley, Dayton, Silver and Virginia Cities.

The Nevada Day parade, with all of its corresponding events, is my favorite thing that Carson City has to offer. Normally, I would just have the complete listing of everything Saturday has to offer in my weekend event summary, but Parade Day offers a few challenges. Namely, there is just so much going on in downtown Carson City that creating a separate listing seems easiest for all of my readers. Whether it’s the bloody marys, the beard contest, or running into long-lost friends that gets you there, it's going to be a beautiful, sunny day.

Three people were arrested Monday for suspicion of felony battery with a deadly weapon and other charges after an altercation in the 1900 block of Boeing Way, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

A 32-year-old Carson City man was arrested Wednesday for multiple charges including felony possession of stolen property, being a convicted felon with a firearm and destruction of property, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

Northern Nevada is filled with very different people with a wide variety of interests. I strive to make sure that my things-to-do lists reflect the many options available to you. A 38-year-old Dayton man was booked Wednesday into Carson City Jail for a felony warrant alleging possession of stolen property.

The Classic Cinema Club presents Edmond O'Brien and Pamela Britton in ‘D.O.A.’ Get there at 6:30 p.m. for discussion and film trivia. For the true trivia junkies, the Fox Brewpub hosts DJ Trivia tonight – all ages are welcome and there are prizes at stake. Halloween lovers of all ages will want to participate in the upcoming production of ‘Nightmare before Christmas’ at Piper’s Opera House.

A brush fire behind a house on Cabrolet Drive on the west side of Carson City was quickly knocked down by firefighters late Friday morning.

The fire was reported at around 11 a.m. in the 1200 block of Cabrolet and burned into brush and a fence, putting up smoke and flames before firefighters knocked it down. It was fully extinguished at 11:41 a.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Labor Day weekend approaches. Join Parks and Recreation for an easy walk through our historical east side or get your heart rate up with Muscle Powered this afternoon as they trek through Voltaire Canyon. Job seekers may find what they're looking for at the Carson Nugget: all experience levels are welcome for their Job Fair featuring several casino, hotel, and restaurant openings.

Four men were arrested Friday night at 8:15 p.m. in the area of Lone Mountain Drive and East Winnie Lane on a host of felony and misdemeanor drug offenses during the same bust, Carson City Sheriff's deputies said.

We are starting to see a little bit of a cool down, which makes a summer stroll all the more enjoyable. Join the Friends of the Nevada State Museum for a walking tour along the blue line; you’ll learn more about this historical district and the people who lived there. The Kings Canyon Waterfall is always spectacular, and today’s Muscle Powered Conditioning Hike will take you there and show off some amazing views of our valley. The Jazz and Beyond Music Festival has buddied up with something new this year. Today and tomorrow, the Jukebox International Film Festival features fifteen contestants competing in four categories. Youth Theater Carson City and Western Nevada Musical Theater alum, Grant Davis, is back in town to show support for ‘Something Like Summer,’ the Australian musical he stars in. Make sure you’re in McFadden Plaza around 5 p.m. Davis will be performing songs from the movie and music from his debut album on the Third Street Stage.

A jazzy Tuesday has arrived. Catch the Millennial Bugs this evening as they perform in the Comma Coffee Courtyard. Take the kids up to Silver City this morning and they’ll get a chance to explore the Community Garden, learn about the plants and flowers, and participate in an activity. The Deputy Howell Memorial Concert is just a week and a half away. Attend the meeting for volunteers and help this event go off without a hitch.

Take a team of smarty-pants to Fox Brewpub and fight for a place on the DJ Trivia leaderboard. You’ll be whisked to ‘Non-stop New York’ at the Brewery Arts Center during tonight’s Classic Cinema Club film viewing.

The Carson City Fair gathers steam today: they’ll be setting up the carnival, judging the items in the exhibit hall, and the 4-H kids are showing off what their dogs can do. It’s a play-doh afternoon at the Carson City Library, in addition to their weekly Pajama Story time on Tuesday evenings. The Carson Nugget is hosting a job fair to fill a plethora of positions in their restaurants and on the casino floor.

A 40-year-old woman was arrested Sunday in the area of Highway 50 East and Nichols for suspicion of possession of a controlled substance and other charges, a Carson City sheriff’s deputy said.

It is going to be a beautiful Tuesday: toasty, but not too hot, and with a nice afternoon breeze. As the summer goes along, kids get a little antsy. Take your grade schooler up to Silver City for their annual Bike Safety Rodeo and you’ll leave confident that they know the rules of the road. Hit the dance floor tonight. You can learn some beginning swing dance moves at El Charro Avita. Grab your partner and head to Carson Lanes for lessons in country line dancing and a good time with DJ Cowboy Bobby Truesdale.
