Douglas County's 'Numbers' Fire at 30 percent contained, officials say

Accident reported at Old Clear Creek and South Carson

One person involved is requesting medical services.
First responders are currently enroute to the scene. Motorists should seek alternative routes or use caution in the area.

Lyon emergency managers alerted that Numbers Fire could move into Smith Valley, Wellington areas

SVFPD reports that the threat to Lyon County is much diminished from this morning. Lyon County will continue to monitor the fire and keep you informed of any changes.

Lyon County Emergency Management has been notified by the Smith Valley Fire Protection District that there is a possibility that the Numbers Fire could spread to Lyon County in the Smith Valley, Wellington area.
Numbers Fire south of Gardnerville grows to more than 20,000 acres, 5 percent containment

The Bureau of Land Management reports a lower figure, 18,000 acres, with 5 percent containment, or a fuel break around the fire.
Brush fire rages south of Gardnerville threatening homes, evacuations continue, US 395 closed

Suspicious package found in bushes at Carson City Sheriff's Office prompts bomb squad response, street closures

All personnel are returning to the sheriff's office. The Courthouse remains closed to the public. One bag contained an assortment of belongings, with an item considered suspicious and taken apart by Tahoe Douglas Bomb Squad, which then declared the area safe. The matter has been turned over to CCSO.

UPDATE 2:35PM: The Carson City Sheriff's Office will be closed Wednesday until further notice. A suspicious package was found in the vicinity just after 1 p.m. East Musser Street and surrounding streets are closed until further notice. Tahoe Douglas Bomb Squad is on scene.
The Carson City Courthouse is closed for the remainder of the day. For hearings or check-ins call the correct court tomorrow. Further details will be released from the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, standby.

A suspicious package was found in some bushes Wednesday afternoon at the Carson City Sheriff's Office, prompting the closure of East Musser, surrounding streets around the sheriff's office and a call to the Tahoe Douglas Bomb Squad.
Carson City Fire Department knock down fast moving brush fire off Mark Way
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 06/23/2020 - 5:10pmUPDATE 5:50PM: Carson City Fire Department Chief Sean Slamon reports the brush fire, now under control, was approximately 1 acre in size and two homes were immediately threatened when firefighters arrived.
"The fire was challenging from down drafts and erratic high winds. Crews were able to protect the structures and stop the forward progress very quickly," said Slamon.
Firefighters will remain on scene for another 1 to 2 hours. The cause is under investigation.

UPDATE: Forward progress on the Mark fire was stopped at 5:36 p.m., according to a Carson City Fire Department battalion chief on scene. Mop up efforts are underway. It is unknown at this time if any structures have been damaged. We will update as information becomes available.

DMV to reopen Tuesday after fiber optic cable cut causes outage

Flynn Robert Gabriel, 36, was arrested on two felony warrants issued out of Carson City Justice Court. The first is for lewdness with a child under 14 years of age. The second is for use of a minor as agent involving drugs, both issued on April 17, 2020.
Carson City man arrested for DUI drugs after swerving between lanes

According to the report, deputies were driving south on Saliman when they noticed the vehicle in front of them swerving across the double yellow line. Deputies followed the vehicle and observed it swerve out of its lane another time before going to stop at a stop sign for a “short period of time.”

Carson City deputies arrest pair for drug charges after they left a hotel known for 'heavy drug traffic'

According to the report, Allen Lee Parkins and Kesa Dawn Pascal were arrested by Special Enforcement Team deputies after deputies spotted Parkins and Pascal leaving a hotel known for “heavy drug traffic.”
