Carson City man arrested for DUI drugs after swerving between lanes
A 20-year-old Carson City man was arrested for DUI drugs first and failure to maintain a lane.
According to the report, deputies were driving south on Saliman when they noticed the vehicle in front of them swerving across the double yellow line. Deputies followed the vehicle and observed it swerve out of its lane another time before going to stop at a stop sign for a “short period of time.”
The vehicle began heading west on Colorado St., and which point deputies activated their overhead lights and conducted a traffic stop.
Deputies made contact with the driver, and noted that they could not smell any alcohol or marijuana in the car, but his speech was thick and slow “as if he was under the influence of an intoxicating substance.”
Deputies asked where he had been that evening and he said he had been at his cousins’s house. Deputies asked if he knew where he was and he said Carson City. When asked where in Carson City, the man said he did not know.
Deputies asked if he had been drinking or smoking marijuana that evening and he said he had not.
According to the report, the man’s eyes were glossed over and he had a hard time focusing on the questions deputies were asking. Deputies asked if he would submit to a field sobriety test and the man said he would.
The man showed multiple signs of impairment.
Deputies took the man into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence of drugs.
