Five-day video Carson City clinic to stop smoking begins Nov. 11

The five night video series runs Sunday thru Thursday, Nov. 11-15, at 7 p.m. each evening in the Carson City SDA Fellowship Hall – 405 College Parkway, Carson City.

Join us in this program, where you'll receive education, addiction support, and motivation to quit using tobacco for good.
This seven-week course starts Thursday, September 6 from 4:00 PM - 5:00 PM and held every Thursday, with the exception of Oct. 1, Nov. 21, and Nov. 26 which will be held on different days (look at the class schedule below). Classes will be held at Carson Tahoe Cardiology (1470 Medical Pkwy, Suite 140).

Head downtown for the first Third and Curry Farmers Market of the season, then wander a few blocks north for Due Sorella’s Spring Vintage Market. You may as well just keep the car parked. With the monthly Wine Walk, Pour for Paws in McFadden Plaza, and Crystal’s Crusade Street Party Fundraiser on W. Telegraph, downtown is the place to be. There are so many options this weekend, so take a gander and enjoy your weekend.

You’ll have from 6 a.m. until 6 p.m. to drop off your donation to the Holiday for the Hungry Frozen Turkey Drop at the Carson Nugget; you’ll see the FISH truck on Carson Street and can drop it off without leaving your car. Sherry Rupert, Executive Director of the State of Nevada Indian Commission, is tonight’s speaker at the Nevada State Museum. Learn about the future of the Stewart Indian School, and probably some interesting things about its history. The Polar Express begins its seasonal run this weekend.

Get ready for Halloween with your choice of pumpkin patches. Seeliger Elementary School is hosting theirs for the twenty-fifth year in a row. Take a trip on the V and T Steam Train at the Nevada Railroad Museum, actually take several trips. The annual Harvest Train event offers an all-day wristband that allows for as many rides as you’d like, in addition to museum admission. So many more fun activities are available to you, you’ll have to read on to see them all.

WNC to Start New School Year Tobacco Free

When students arrive for the fall semester on Monday, Aug. 28, WNC’s three campuses will be tobacco-free. WNC actually became tobacco free in advance of the semester, banning tobacco products as of Monday.
