Special Olympics

Individuals and teams from Carson City, Northern Nevada and Northern California took an icy cold dip into Lake Tahoe Saturday for the annual Special Olympics Polar Plunge, raising around $150,000 for the program's many functions.

Bet your bottom dollar that it will be a great weekend. Wild Horse Children’s Theater finishes up its spring production of ‘Annie, Jr: The Musical,’ so don’t miss your chance to catch these talented kids on stage. Muscle Powered will be out and about for their monthly Trash Mob and invite you to help clean up a little corner of our valley. Special Olympics Northern California and Nevada will host the annual South Lake Tahoe Polar Plunge fundraiser on Saturday, March 18, in the icy waters of Lake Tahoe at Zephyr Cove Resort. The Plunge will be featured during a full weekend of events and activities to benefit Special Olympics.

Many beautiful sunny days are ahead of us. I’m sure we haven’t seen the last of the rain and snow, but as the days get longer, it’s easier to be optimistic that spring is on its way. Law officers in Dayton and Lyon County will be hosting a Tip-a-Cop event to benefit Special Olympics Nevada on Thursday, March 9 at the 1st and 10 Bar and Grill, 240 Dayton Valley Road in Dayton.

Protect the environment while also helping a great cause.

Bring in your old electronics to have them recycled such as: computers, LCD monitors, fax machines, copiers, cell phones tablets, cameras, etc.

Special Olympics Nevada and Northern California will host the annual South Lake Tahoe Polar Plunge fundraiser beginning at 10 a.m. on Saturday, March 18, in the icy waters of Lake Tahoe at Zephyr Cove Resort. The 2017 Polar Plunge will feature a “space odyssey” theme and raise funds and awareness for Special Olympics and its athletes.

Special Olympics athletes, program leaders, Unified Partners and family members from 39 states and the District of Columbia converged on Capitol Hill on Wednesday, Feb. 15, for Special Olympics’ 15th annual “Capitol Hill Day.”

Law enforcement officers in Nevada and Special Olympians have long history of teamwork together, one that goes back more than three decades.

Wednesday has arrived and the rain lingers, so you may as well grab an umbrella and go do something fun. Get a bite to eat at Buffalo Wild Wings where officers and athletes are teaming up for the Special Olympics Tip-a-Cop fundraiser. WEDNESDAY:

There will be a Tip-a-Cop fundraiser for Carson City Special Olympics on Wednesday, Jan. 11 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Buffalo Wild Wings, 3815 S Carson Street in Carson City. Law enforcement officers from various agencies will be on hand as food servers. Tip-a-Cop proceeds collected will go to Special Olympics Nevada.

There are still plenty of things to occupy your time, but the weather may force more cancellations.

Hello there, Carson City. Wednesday has arrived and brings several options to help get you over the workweek hump.
