Friday, July 29: Things to do in Carson City
Submitted by Danielle Cook on Fri, 07/29/2016 - 4:51amLiving in the dusty, dry high desert means that we escape cancerous car rot. Additionally, it’s probably the reason that Northern Nevada is a mecca for classic cars and the shows that celebrate them. The Silver Dollar Classic Car Show has long been Carson’s kick off to the hot, melty August nights that follow – the Max Casino is where it all begins. Head to Red’s Old 395 for an appreciation party to those who fight our wild fires and say a hello to Smokey the Bear. Trey Stone makes an appearance at Living the Good Life and Whiskey Tavern welcomes you to their karaoke stage.

Fiddler on the Roof: It’s about Fathers and Daughters
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Wed, 07/06/2016 - 6:50amThe two best days of my life will always be the day I married Kathy and the day our daughter Karyn was born.
For our wedding music, I chose “Sunrise, Sunset” from Fiddler on the Roof, among other pieces.
“But we’re not Jewish,” said Kathy.
“Don’t have to be,” I answered. That song and everything about the film had always moved me greatly. Fiddler’s on the short list of best films ever, and the song perfectly captures a wedding.
