Big changes ahead at Spooner Lake State Park with facility renovation, re-imagination

A collaboration between Nevada State Parks, Nevada State Lands and the Tahoe Fund has been successful in securing funding and donations to complete plans for the 35-year-old park.

Volunteers help Carson City school construct new playground equipment
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Sun, 12/09/2012 - 3:46amRakes, shovels, wheel barrels, wood chips and wrenches were united with nearly 170 volunteers Saturday in Carson City, pitching in their time to put up new playground equipment at Bordewich Bray Elementary School.
Through the support of the Let Them be Kids organization that awarded the school equipment, along with faculty, staff, students and parents, the playground equipment is designed with all students, especially those with autism.

South Lake Tahoe Mayor Claire Fortier and Edgewood's CEO and president Chuck Scharer gladly cut the ribbon after months of negotiations allowing for future property and building rights in exchange for the public park.
