Good morning Carson City, and happy weekend! We've got a warm day ahead with highs of 76 degrees! Today on the docket is the early farmer's market, a Mother's Day craft fair, the grand reopening of the second wind thrift store, and more!

What a week it was Carson City, and it isn't even over yet. Heading into Friday, May 3, 2019, we're looking at continued sunny skies and temperatures in the low 70s. There's a host of activities Friday and, looking ahead, a bevy of fun Saturday including a Mother's Day craft fair at the Carson City Community Center, a Star Wars themed bicycle safety day, a wine, cheese and dessert ride aboard the V&T, an early opening of the downtown farmer's market, the May Downtown Carson City Wine Walk, a memorial walk, presentations, comedy, live music and more. Enjoy.

Oh what a difference the sunshine makes. The second day of May in Carson City will bring warming temperatures with a daytime high in the low 70s. The event lineup Thursday includes a law enforcement memorial at the capitol complex, a hike at Clear Creek, art showings, a lecture on the historic Transcontinental Railroad, live music and more. In celebration of Historic Preservation and Archaeological Awareness month, the Carson City Historic Resource Commission has organized the 10th Annual Scavenger Hunt. This year’s hunt focuses on the history and culture of the capital city. The Commission crafted the hunt to be an event the family can do together.

Truly a springtime to remember in Carson City as we say goodbye to April, which leaves us with a spontaneous final chill, and hello to Wednesday, May 1, 2019. Temperatures should head back up into the low 60s by afternoon. Looking ahead there's art showings and painting workshops, a C-Hill hike to see the firefighting sheep, a school district strategic planning meeting, a Salsa dance class, and "Ideas on Tap," a monthly series of interactive conversations at The Union Eatery and Taphouse.

Hello Carson City as we prepare to welcome Tuesday, April 30, 2019, with a blast of cold air and chance for valley rain and Sierra snow. The good news is the weather change is short-lived and should be out of here by Wednesday afternoon. Looking ahead for Tuesday, we've got a morning power walk and afternoon hike, an archery shoot, art showings and more.

Events lined up include a cancer center benefit bow shoot hosted by Clear Creek Bowmen, a Muscle Powered bike ride, a Bee City USA Earth Week presentation, an open house at the Wungnema House in Mills Park, a Carson City Symphony concert and more. Headed into Saturday, April 27, 2019 we're looking at another picture-perfect spring weather day and cool overnight temperatures. There's lots of activities ahead, including a colorful fun run at Mills Park, a free paper and document recycling event hosted by Debug Computer, a prescription drug roundup, the Silver State's own celebration of the Aloha State, a Carson High School speech team fundraiser at Flavors of India, art showings and sales and a fundraiser at Flat Earth Pizza for a wonderful Carson City woman who is in the throes of cancer. Janel Johnson, a botanist with the Nevada Natural Heritage program, will be the featured speaker at Monday's Democratic luncheon. Having earned a bachelors in botany at Oregon State and a Masters in rangeland ecology from Montana State, Janel began her labor of love 15 years ago at the Natural Heritage program of the Department of Conservation and Natural Resources.

From library presentations, a TV show casting call at the Carson Nugget, an afternoon hike, to a train history presentation, a book signing at the Brewery Arts Center, a CHS theater performance and the Carson City movie screening premier of "The Mustang" filmed at the historic Nevada State Prison, there's something for everyone.
