Good morning Carson City and happy Saturday! Today we’ve got a packed day of activities, including Carson City’s Proudest Pride event, Sassabration! In addition, we’ve got the Capital City Kid’s Triathlon, the farmers market, a Carson Street car show, and more!

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of events and activities around the Carson City region to help the next three days breeze by. On Friday, Muscle Powered will host a morning walk at the Carson City Multi-Use Path at 8 a.m. And there's coin press demonstrations at the Nevada State Museum.

This week's edition of It's Your City features Adam Whitney, filling in for host Cortney Bloomer, with special guest Jayme Watts, owner of Sassafras Eclectic Food Joint in Carson City and co-founder of this Saturday's annual Sassabration.

Good times, sunny skies, activities and more are planned around the Carson City area as we head into Thursday, July 11. Hikes, bike rides, art, food trucks at Mills Park, a Carson City CASA information night, a sentimental journey along Highway 395 presentation and more are lined up for the day. Enjoy

Lake Street Dive tours the US this summer in support of its critically acclaimed 2018 album, Free Yourself Up. The band has new headlining shows, several of which find them co-headlining with The Wood Brothers, as well as in support of the The Avett Brothers. The new dates continue in Des Moines, Iowa, on June 25 and include shows across the country, in North Carolina, Virginia, Michigan, Ohio, Iowa, Missouri, Kansas, Vermont, New York, Pennsylvania, Kentucky, Colorado, Idaho, Nevada, New Mexico, California, and more (full schedule below).

While waiting in line for a lift ticket this past winter I passed the time by whistling, "Born to Lose." I don't know why I was whistling that particular Ray Charles song, though I'm sure a psychiatrist could tell me. Be that as it may, a mother and young son were walking by when the little guy asked, "Mom, why is that man whistling?"

"Because he's happy, Honey," she answered with a smile.

Heading into Monday, July 8, 2019 we want to give a big shout out to all the local organizations and agencies that made this Fourth of July weekend around the Carson City region one to remember. For Monday we're looking at a number of events including a basketball camp at the MAC, a children's theater camp, a local talk with the Carson City Airport manager, art activities, line dancing and more.

The Fourth of July will be colored with parades, barbecues, carnivals, concerts and plenty of fireworks around Carson City, Carson Valley, Lake Tahoe and Virginia City.

Uncle Kracker delivered his feel-good music at Carson Valley Inn. The crowd soaked it up.

As we go forward and move ahead into Tuesday, July 2, 2019 we're looking at another sunny day, all the better as we prepare to celebrate Independence Day. Are you ready for July 4 fireworks at Mills Park? As a Tuesday warmup, get the heart pumping during Muscle Powered's three fitness outings. Plus there's art showings, hands-on science activities in Silver City, an evening archery shoot, a viewing of the 1953 film "From Here to Eternity" at the Brewery Arts Center hosted by the Carson City Classic Cinema Club and more. Carson City Symphony Association’s “Strings in the Summer,” a free program for string-instrument players of all ages, will begin on Monday morning, July 8, 2019. Laura Gibson, Associate Concertmaster of Carson City Symphony, is the instructor and conductor. Registration and tuition are free, donations welcome.

Jordan T brought the flair and funk during the fourth annual Levitt AMP Carson City outdoor Music Series on Saturday.

Attendees by the hundreds filled the Change Companies Stage on Minnesota St. at the Brewery Arts Center to soak in a warm summer night with a pair of terrific live performances.

Hosted by Epic Rides, Carson City Off-Road races weren’t the only venues that kicked-off a jam-packed weekend in the state capital’s downtown on Saturday.

Several booths, food, and refreshments joined a pair of live performances to bring even more heat to a warm summer day in Carson City.

Tickets for Under the Big Top, the 2019 circus-themed, multi-generational production of the Senior Follies are now available for show dates July 12-14.

Heading into Thursday, June 27, 2019, there's plenty to do and see around the Carson City area as we march toward an action-packed weekend. There's a morning Muscle Powered walk, Food Truck Thursday at Mills Park, a Farmers Market in Dayton, a discussion on climate change at Western Nevada College, a history presentation on Chinese woodcutters at the Nevada State Museum, a presentation by the NNDA Executive Director at a GOP monthly meeting, Cruise Night at Wing Stop, an information meeting on the Ross Gold Park master plan hosted by Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space. Get in the Act is celebrating its 19th summer of providing aspiring young performers to the magical world of theater through dancing, singing and acting and we are excited to bring our popular camp to the Children's Museum of Northern Nevada this summer! The camp is for students entering grades K-3rd, July 8-12 from 9 am to Noon.

Thousands will pack Carson City venues during the Capital City Brewfest and Levitt AMP Carson City Music Series on Saturday, June 22.

Heading into the weekend, there's a bevy of events around the Carson City region that brings a cool breeze to the first three days of summer. The 16th Motor Officer Challenge kicks off Friday at 7 a.m. at Mills Park. Lace up the shoes for a Friday morning walk at East Silver Saddle Ranch hosted by Muscle Powered.

Brenda Spring, with RE/MAX Realty Affiliates Carson City, has received the RE/MAX Hall of Fame Award, which honors successful agents who have earned more than $1 million in commissions during their careers with the company. Only 22 percent of all active RE/MAX agents have earned this prestigious award since its inception.

Antsy McClain & the Trailer Park Troubadours will headline the fourth annual Levitt AMP Carson City Music Series at the Brewery Arts Center on Saturday, June 22.

Indie pop band The Belle Sounds will headline this year’s Capital City Brewfest. The annual event takes place Saturday, June 22, from 3 to 8 p.m. along Curry Street in Downtown Carson City. The band will perform beginning at 5 p.m. on the stage in McFadden Plaza.

Paws what you’re doing and mark your calendar for Friday, June 21, 5 and 6:30 p.m. at the Brewery Arts Center. Students with the Carson City School District, in partnership with the Wild Horse Children’s Theater, will debut their Summer Theater Camp’s adaptation of Disney’s "101 Dalmatians, Kids." Admission to the play is free of charge; however, donations will be accepted.

Heading into Father’s Day weekend, there's plenty of jam-packed activities around the Carson City region. There's Flag Day ceremonies at the Nevada Veterans Memorial and at the Elks Lodge. The Stewart Father’s Day Powwow happens Friday to Sunday and features hundreds of American Indian dancers, drummers artists and cultural enthusiasts. Lace up the tennis shoes for the Eastside Historical tour of the capital city hosted by Muscle Powered. Journey of Hope returns to Western Nevada College at 5 p.m. to settle into the evening. Open Mic Night at A to Zen will cap-off an eventful Friday heading into the weekend.

Sassafras Eclectic Food Joint will kick-off Father’s Day in Carson City during its fifth annual Sassabration fundraiser event featuring Brunch and Bingo with Bea Arthur, a tribute to the late comedy actress, singer and activist Bea Arthur on Sunday, June 16 at 11 a.m.

Hello Carson City. It is Thursday, June 13, 2019. After last night's thunderstorms that shook around the capital city we're looking at plenty of sunshine today with a daytime high around 86.
