National Night Out canceled due to weather, Mills Park conditions
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Tue, 07/29/2014 - 11:38amUDPATE: The Carson City Sheriff’s Office regrets to inform everyone that the 12th Annual National Night Out in Mills Park, set for Tuesday, August 5 at 5 p.m. has been canceled.
It has been determined that with the park's current ground saturation from the rain, the quantity of “heavy” public safety vehicles, aircraft and equipment that was scheduled to be on the grassy area of the park would cause irreparable damage. Further, at this late hour, there is insufficient time to orchestrate a reasonable relocation of the event location.

Meet Vance Alm, M.D. Candidate for U.S. Congress at Friday Carson City Town Hall meeting
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Tue, 05/13/2014 - 9:08am"Of the people, by the people, for the people"…Lincoln’s statement about the government of the United States of America. It seems that far too many people now fear our government due to the perception that it doesn’t provide for the common man. There is great concern that we are becoming a nation of the corporation, by the corporation and for the corporation. It seems that the individual doesn’t matter, that our voice is absent in the decisions our country makes. Politics now seem to be all about money and placating the special interests.
