New Year's Eve Torchlight Parade and Fireworks at Mt. Rose

Start the New Year off right with an extended day at Mt. Rose Ski Tahoe on Friday, Dec. 31. Enjoy a torchlight parade, food, drinks, fire pits, and an early fireworks show before continuing your festivities down the hill. 
Events are as follows:
4 p.m. - Fire pits and beverages
4:15 p.m. - Snowcat Parade
5:15 p.m. - Torchlight Parade

Carson City Library Foundation New Year's Eve Party

Nugget Project vote could be delayed until 2011 (updated)

The yet-to-be-completed plans for the Carson City Center aka Nugget Project may not be voted on by the Carson City Board of Supervisors until after the beginning of the new year, according to City Manager Larry Werner.

Werner said there will be a status update presented to the citizens committee on Sept. 27. Another committee meeting will be scheduled once the plans are finalized, Werner said. The presentation of the full plans had already been delayed twice before, adding two months to the original timeline.

April Statewide Gaming Win Down 5.7 Percent, Vegas Strip Off Less Than 1 Percent

CARSON CITY – Statewide April gaming revenues declined 5.7 percent compared to the same month in 2009, the Nevada Gaming Control Board reported today.
Gaming win by Nevada casinos totaled $810 million in April compared to $859 million won in April 2009.
For the first 10 months of the fiscal year that began July 1, gaming revenues total $8.7 billion, 4 percent below the $9.1 billion reported for fiscal year 2009.
