Carson Chamber Singers, conducted by Michael Langham, will present its 2016 Fall Concerts on Friday, Oct. 28, at 7:30 p.m. at St. Mary’s in the Mountains, 111 S. E Street in Virginia City, and on Tuesday, Nov. 1, at 7:30 p.m. at Shepherd of the Sierra, 3680 US Highway 395 South in Carson City.

Statewide Poetry Out Loud registration begins

Nevada’s premier poetry program and competition kicks off the 2017 season with registration open for the dynamic initiative that is structured similarly to the National Spelling Bee, but focuses on literary heritage through memorization and performance of classic and contemporary works.

Sixteen high school student artists from Carson, Dayton, and Douglas high schools have work in the exhibit. His illustrated talk, "Outside In", is next in CCAI’s Nevada Neighbors series. The talk will take place at 7pm at the Community Development building [the Brick], 108 E Proctor St, Carson City. There will be an informal reception for di Maria preceding the event at 6:15pm. The presentation and reception are free, and the public is cordially invited.

Art on the Porch Set for Friday to launch Carson City Jazz and Beyond Festival

Carson City, Nevada — To help launch the annual citywide Jazz & Beyond Festival, Capital City Arts Initiative will host artists selling their art at the Bliss Mansion prior to the 6:30 p.m. main concert. The art sale will take place Friday, August 5 from 4-6:30 p.m. on the porch, 608 Elizabeth Street, Carson City. The free events include art for sale, music, food, and a lovely home and garden to tour. The public is cordially invited.

Nevada Arts Council grants nearly $50,000 in new artist fellowships

The Nevada Arts Council has awarded nearly $50,000 in grants to 14 Nevada artists selected to receive FY17 Artist Fellowships, executive director Susan Boskoff announced today. From Las Vegas, Reno and Minden, their work includes music, poetry, choreography fiction and non-fiction. In addition, artist Stephan Caplan received a $6,955 grant in the Fellowship Project category for new work.
