Tickets available for VIP Celebrity Dinner ahead of Deputy Carl Howell Memorial Music Festival

The special VIP evening dinner at Empire Ranch Golf Course, is for people to meet and mingle with the celebrities, athletes and musicians who will be in Carson City to honor fallen Carson City Sheriff’s Deputy Carl Howell, said organizer Don Alexander, who formed the nonprofit The Last Respond Fund, to raise money for the Howell family.

Scope out one of Carson City’s neighborhood parks during today’s Easy Walk or participate in something a little more strenuous as Muscle Powered tackles Prison Hill, off Snyder. Kids are encouraged to wear their comfy clothes and bring a favorite stuffed animal during the Carson Library’s weekly Pajama Story Time. The Deputy Howell Memorial Music Festival is quickly approaching, so all volunteers will need to attend tonight’s planning meeting at Harley Davidson.

Mile High Jazz Band at Comma Coffee is the hot ticket tonight. Such a beautiful day in store, they’ll probably be in the courtyard. Our rivers and reservoirs are filled to the brim: if you ever wanted to learn more about fly-fishing, this is probably a good time for it. The Carson City Fly Fishing Club meets monthly at the Carson City Airport and is a perfect choice for those who already love or are curious about the sport.

Granted, the lawns and gardens in Carson City are loving this wet stuff, I just want the sunshine to stay put. The brewery at the corner of Proctor and N. Carson Street will soon be opening as ‘The Union’ and is seeking staff for what promises to be an exciting downtown venture for chef, Mark Estee. A job fair today and Tuesday will have hiring managers on hand to fill the front and back of the house. Wildfire Awareness Month is honored at the State Legislature today.

It’s back to school for the kids of Lyon County and Carson. Jacks Valley Elementary is closed, but all other Minden/Gardnerville students are headed back.
