Fraternity team to stop in Carson City during 4,730 mile bike ride

The Journey of Hope North team arrive in Carson City as part of a 4,370-mile summer-long journey from San Francisco to Washington, D.C. on Saturday, August 10. The team will dedicate their summer to supporting people with disabilities through grant funding and community engagement. This group of 22 cyclists and six crew members is one of three Journey of Hope teams cycling across the country. This event, organized by The Ability Experience, is now in its 32nd year.

‘Grow with Google’ returning to Carson City

Today, Google announced that they will be partnering with the East Las Vegas Library, part of the Las Vegas-Clark County Library District, and the Carson City Library, for day-long digital skills training events as part of Google’s Grow with Google initiative.

The Nature Conservancy Commends Passage of Groundwater Bill

After passing unanimously in the Assembly and Senate, Senate Bill 140 (SB 140), which sets aside 10 percent of uncommitted groundwater as a reserve, was signed into law yesterday by Gov. Steve Sisolak. The Nature Conservancy in Nevada is focused on protecting water for the environment and applauds the legislature and Governor for taking this innovative step toward conserving water for communities, for the environment, and for the future.

NHP, law enforcement statewide ramps up DUI enforcement over holiday weekend

Nevada Highway Patrol and other Nevada law enforcement agencies participating in the Joining Forces program are making plans to keep Memorial Day weekend safe on our roads and highways by increasing patrols for impaired drivers now through June 2, 2019.

Carson High School's 'Safe Grad' seeking volunteers

Safe Grad has been a tradition for Carson High since 1988, started by community volunteers, after a series of graduation incidents and deaths related to alcohol. Safe Grad is a parent and community sponsored all-night party that begins the evening after graduation at the Carson City Community Center, and this year they are looking for volunteers to help fulfill their mission.

Military veterans and seniors to take flight in WWII biplane: Public invited to attend and watch Dream Flights

Pre-selected military veterans and seniors will enjoy the thrill of a Dream Flight in a 1944 Stearman biplane, the same aircraft used to train military aviators during World War II. The flights are courtesy of Ageless Aviation Dreams Foundation (AADF), a Carson City-based nonprofit that honors U.S. military veterans nationwide with free Dream Flights. AADF has given more than 3,700 Dream Flights nationwide since 2011.

Prominence Health opens new Carson City Care Center

A Grand Opening was held Wednesday evening for the new Prominence Care Center in Carson City, presented by Prominence Health Plan in partnership with Vera Whole Health.

The new facility opened at 180 E Winnie Lane in Carson City, and it is accessible to plan members through the Carson City School District, as well as Prominence Medicare Advantage Members.

The USDA Forest Service Lake Tahoe Basin Management Unit will begin the sale of personal use fuelwood permits at the Forest Supervisor’s Office in South Lake Tahoe on Monday, June 3, 2019. Permits cost $20 per cord, with a two-cord minimum purchase and a limit of 10 cords per household.
