'Sassafras' to replace closing B'Sghetti's restaurant
Submitted by admin on Tue, 06/28/2011 - 5:46pmWhile Carson City residents were mourning the loss of B'Sghetti's restaurant this week, it appears that plans for a new eatery named Sassafras were coming together behind the scenes.
Sassafras will be a "chalkboard restaurant" with a changing menu focusing on fresh, local foods, according to a press release sent to Carson Now. The restaurant will be a partnership between Chef Anthong "Tony" Fish who currently operates "The Grill" at Mo and Sluggo's, and B'Sghetti's owner Scott Doerr, along with Carl Ceccarelli and Jayme Watts.

Silver Springs February Social for Families with Military Members and Veterans

The social will be held on Saturday, Feb. 26 at 11 a.m. at the Silver Springs Senior/Community Center, 2945 Fort Churchill Road in Silver Springs. The gathering is for Silver Springs and Stagecoach families of veterans, enlisted and reserve members, and for reserve, active duty, and veterans. It is open to anyone from Silver Springs and Stagecoach with a family member who is or has been in the military. Children are very welcome!

Tahoe ranked No. 1 ski destination by Rand McNally

The ranking is based on travel bookings to the destination when compared to other winter locations throughout the United States and Canada. It is the latest recognition given to the region by the nation's top travel writers and publications, according to the LTVA announcement.
Proscenium Players offer a menu of mystery this weekend

Some pre-show music will be offered by Sweet Vocal Renditions featuring Sweet Molly McGee. Irish fare dinner begins at 6:30 with the show starting at 7:15 p.m.
Prizes will be given to the firs three audience members who solve mystery.

Start that turkey and while everyone is still asleep go outside for a long walk. Exercise during the holiday will lower your stress level, slow you down, and maybe even keep you away from the refrigerator.
— I can’t tell you not to eat too much. You wouldn’t listen anyway. However, eating light, getting plenty of rest, and putting in a little exercise time, will help you through the holiday.

New boss at Heavenly Mountain Resort

So maybe the era of ski bums isn’t over. They may not wear suits but they often are the people doing the suits’ job.
