Partnership Carson City to host Saturday field day to promote mental health

National statistics show that one in five adults suffers a mental health disorder in any given year in the United States. “We all know somebody,” said Tasha Martel, outreach coordinator for Partnership Carson City. “It’s not just the people who have to be medicated. So many people suffer from situational depression or anxiety, and they just need a little help.”

Partnership Carson City course teaches mental health first aid

The Rockabilly Riot is jam-packed with activities all over town: the races and booths at Mills Park; a street dance at Jimmy G’s Cigar Bar; a tattoo show in the Community Center; a free concert at Gold Dust West; and Burlesque at the Nugget. Hope can outshine the darkness of suicide

Today dozens of people participated in the annual Veterans Suicide Awareness March, an event meant not only to raise awareness of the suicide epidemic among our military veterans, but also to spread the word about how to prevent these deaths.

But suicide infects more than our veteran population. It reaches across the demographic plain to touch people of many different races, colors, creeds, genders, ages and backgrounds.
