Music has often been called the universal language but it can also be deeply personal and help us express emotions we might otherwise bury.

It can make us laugh or cry, tap our feet, dance, or just sing along.

Observant travelers in Northern Nevada are reporting numerous reindeer sightings along the 85 mile stretch of US 395 between Bordertown, on the north, and Lake Topaz, on the south.

The Willow Reindeer herd now has 3,000 individually crafted works of art. Each reindeer has been signed by the local elementary students that have created it over the past 22 years. With an average of 20 students per class, there have been over 60,000 local children involved in the massive local art project.

Carson St., Thursday, April 11, at 2 p.m. Area residents and guests age 21 and over are encouraged to apply. No acting experience is necessary.

UPDATE: Episodes of the new television sitcom "Casino Boss" will begin airing Monday, Dec. 31, 2018 on Charter Spectrum Cable Channel 190, the Carson Nugget said.
The program will then air daily at 4 p.m., 8 p.m. and 12 a.m. until Jan. 31, 2019.

A Caring and Sharing Christmas holiday concert to celebrate the season of joy, hosted by the Carson City Seventh-day Adventist Church, is scheduled for Thursday evening, Dec. 13, 2018 at 7 p.m.

Local talent will be joining us in sharing the gift of music in this community event. The Event is a "food raiser" for the Carson City Seventh-day Adventist Church Food Pantry. Entrance to the concert will be two non-perishable food items per person. Please join us for a wonderful night of music. Cookies and cocoa will follow the concert.

Hundreds of Carsonites attended a cast call Tuesday hosted by the Carson Nugget, hoping to become extras in a new TV show "Casino Boss," that will begin filming its pilot this week.

CARSON CITY — A new sitcom called “Casino Boss” starring comedian, movie star and Saturday Night Live alum, Joe Piscopo, is filming in the Carson Nugget Casino, located at 507 N. Carson Street. Show producers are holding a casting call for extras to appear in the pilot at Alatte inside the Nugget Tuesday, August 7 from 4-7 p.m.

Carson’s Got Talent, a talent show featuring performers from Reno, Lake Tahoe, Carson City, Douglas County, Dayton and Yerington, lifted the audience Saturday while raising money for the Carson City Meals On Wheels program.

Eclectic is a word often overused when describing small businesses. A to Zen in Carson City, however, has earned the moniker.

The Carson Host Lions Club and the Carson Nugget are sponsoring a Grand Slam Musical event to support the Carson High School girls softball program. The event features local crooner Jimmy Mallett and a bevy of our young local talent.

The event will be held on Saturday January 13, 2018 from 6 P.M to 9 P.M in the Ballroom at the Carson Nugget.

Join the Mile High Jazz Band this Monday on McFadden Plaza for the final concert of the Jazz and Beyond 2017 festival. This will be a celebration of Count Basie’s 113th birthday.

A Carson City computer technology company known for making high resolution applications is now a key partner in the development of autonomous public transit systems currently being tested for the San Francisco Bay Area market.

When Robin McGregor attended her first Entrepreneurs Assembly meeting at Adams Hub for innovation in February of this year, she had no idea what to expect. Robin’s goal was to drive more people into Carson City Art Gallery, which she opened with her husband Rich, in September 2016. The gallery is located in a historic former stagecoach stop at 110 Curry Street in downtown Carson City.

The BAC Blowhards will have you in stitches at Improv Night at the Brewery Arts Center.

Western Nevada College students received a job placement boost in its Applied Industrial Technology lab this week — a Panasonic representative spoke of his interest in their skills and futures.
