Evening of Art at Fritsch Elementary

After a week of working on their projects, students showed off their works of art at the school on Thursday, May 22nd. With a fourth grade violinist playing in the background, family and friends strolled around looking at over 400 creative and original masterpieces.

Songwriter, cowboy poet Mike Beck returns Friday to Carson City for wild horse rescue benefit

Artsy Fartsy Gallery of Carson City will have an array of Western art by local artists available. The hat will be passed and donations, which will be matched by Café at Adele’s, as well as a portion of art sales will go toward supporting wild horse rescue efforts in Northern Nevada.
Brewery Arts Center develops survey, asks for feedback to plan upcoming season

The survey is only 22 questions and accessible through the live link here and will remain live until the end of February.
Winter Wine and All That Jazz benefit for the Brewery Arts Center set for Jan. 18
Submitted by editor on Fri, 01/10/2014 - 6:38pmThe Brewery Arts Center, Carson City’s premiere epicenter for the arts since 1977 has partnered with the Carson Nugget as well as various vineyards and vendors to present Winter Wine and All That Jazz, an evening of wine tasting, music, dancing, a live art demonstration, silent auction and raffles.
This annual fundraiser will be held on Saturday, January 18 at the Carson Nugget from 7pm to 10pm. Tickets are $30 per person and are available for purchase at www.breweryarts.org. For more info call the Brewery Arts Center office at 775-883-1976
Silver and Snowflake Festival of Lights 2013 features Empty Bowls Project fundraiser

The event brings thousands to downtown Carson City marking the city's official kick off of the Christmas and holiday season. Festivities begin at the capitol grounds, 5:30 p.m. where more than 300 voices of the Carson City 5th Grade Music Students Singing Ensemble will provide musical entertainment.
First ever Empty Bowls event to end hunger set for Dec. 6 during Festival of Lights

Empty Bowls is a grass roots movement to end hunger. Local artists young and old donate handmade bowls. Restaurants donate soup and food. For a minimum $10 donation you choose a bowl and fill it with food.
A Walk Down the Fall Art Walk Lane

1) Comma Coffee – The “Backseat Gallery” in the back was featuring art by Barry Mitchell. It was a great opportunity to get a hot coffee too.
2) Legislative Grounds – A viewing of the statues of Kit Carson and Abraham Curry and the Nevada Law Enforcement Officers Memorial along the beautiful ground of the Nevada State Legislature.
Empty Bowls Project of Carson City - Make a Bowl Event

Restaurants are providing the soup and bread that will fill our Empty Bowls. For a minimum donation of $10, you may select one of the bowls and enjoy a warm winter meal to launch the holiday season. The artisan bowl is yours to keep as a reminder that there are empty bowls in our community. There will also be an art auction at the event!
Fundraiser for St. Mary's Art and Retreat Center October 6

All proceeds will assist with the restoration of the 1875 historic building that houses the Center.

Next month is Bike Month and there are plenty of activities planned in Carson City. We kick off on April 24 with Nevada Moves Day at the State Legislature.
Muscle Powered is organizing exhibits in the front foyer of the legislative building highlighting Nevada groups working for better walking and biking. Participants include the Reno Bike Project, Safe Routes to Schools, the Carson Valley Trails Association and more.

Nevada Artists Association Hosts Landscape Gallery

Participating artists paint from the same photograph provided from the show using their own style and mediums, and even creating their own version of the photograph. The gallery will display the different styles that the artists have used for their creation.
Sample the Sierra festivities at South Lake Tahoe planned for Labor Day weekend

This year, 15 local restaurants and farmers will be paired together to produce mouthwatering samples for festival-goers to enjoy. Each food sample will be paired with an accompanying wine, also local to the region.
Pablo Cruise headlines A Concert Under the Stars Wednesday

Jenkins performed four years ago for the inaugural event, which takes place at Café at Adele’s, but his love of music began at a tender age.
“My folks had an old pump organ and I couldn’t reach the pedals,” Jenkins said. “I’d play and my sister would pump the pedals for me; I always had an ear and a love for music.”
Mighty Surf Lords to open 'Concert Under The Stars'

The event takes place July 11 at Café at Adele’s and begins with the silent auction at 5 p.m., followed at 6 p.m. with happy, fun-filled music by The Mighty Surf Lords, who also played the venue last year and who open this year for Jaime Kyle and Pablo Cruise.

The event is limited to 80 attendees. Each will receive a glass of wine and tastings from the three new menus offered by Charlie Abowd, chef and owner of the establishment.
“We’re showcasing selections from the breakfast, lunch and dinner menus,” said Karen Abowd, project president. “This is an opportunity for the community to see the changes we’ve made at Café at Adele’s, to enjoy an evening of fantastic food and support the work of The Greenhouse Project.”
Buckland Station art show Sunday, August 21

Sculptures and paintings are two of the several art mediums to be represented at the Buckland art show.
Art will be displayed outside Buckland Station and Buckland Station will also be open for walk-through, video tours.

There’s a lot of interesting stuff there, mostly posts about events he goes to and galleries of his photography. He has a post up now about the Christmas Tree lighting ceremony that I went to the other night, with plenty of photos from the event.
