A 44-year-old Carson City man was sentenced to 10 years in federal prison and lifetime supervised release for the possession of child pornography, U.S. Attorney Dayle Elieson announced Monday.

The Carson City Sheriff’s Supervisory Association has endorsed Ryan Russell for Carson City Justice of the Peace, Department 2.

Membership of the CCSSA is comprised of sergeants, lieutenants and captains of the Carson City Sheriff’s Department. Association President Jim Primka says members voted this month on the endorsement. “We are proud to support Ryan Russell in his campaign for Justice of the Peace” he said.

A vehicle pursuit that began on Highway 50 near Cave Rock at Lake Tahoe ended Sunday night with a crash in south Douglas County with one person in custody.

Carson City Sheriff's deputies responded Saturday night to a report of a strong-armed robbery that allegedly occurred at the 7-11 convenience store on North Carson Street around 8:40 p.m.

Law enforcement officers from both the U.S. Bureau of Indian Affairs and Pyramid Lake Paiute Tribe have been pulling over vehicles on their way to early Burning Man festivities in the Nevada desert.

A homeless man was found dead Monday evening in a field in the area of Long and State streets. There were no signs of foul play and an autopsy is underway, said Carson City Sheriff Ken Furlong.

UPDATE: 4:52PM: There appears to be minimal damage to structure and vehicle involved in a crash that occurred at the Jackson's mini-mart and Chevron gas station located at the corner of Rand Avenue and East William Street late Sunday afternoon.
Law enforcement is still on scene. No ambulance was needed.
