Carson City School Board Trustee vacancy posting closes Feb. 8

The Carson City School District (CCSD) is still accepting applications to fill a vacancy on the Board of Trustees in District 6, Superintendent Richard Stokes said, but only until Feb. 8.

Easy Walk Program: Water and closed-toed shoes required. Walks of 1 to 2 miles in length with none or negligible elevation gain, and frequently paved or smooth paths. The Carson City School District is seeking applicants for an appointment to its District 6 Trustee seat, CCSD Superintendent Richard Stokes said.

The seat was left vacant by Susan Hart, who resigned in December as she prepared to move out of state, the school district office said.

Three in custody, victim sustains non-life-theatening injuries after fight near Kings Canyon trailhead

UPDATE 11:30PM: The victim of a battery that happened early Tuesday night suffered non-life threatening injuries following a fight that he started with three men near the Kings Canyon Waterfall trailhead, a Carson City sheriff’s detective said.
The victim and the suspects had been drinking together and were hiking when the victim started the fight with the three males, said Detective Sam Hatley.
The victim suffered injuries to his head and a laceration. Because of the injuries, he was flown as a precaution to Renown Medical Center.
The three suspects were charged with misdemeanor battery after it was determined they continued the assault, kicking the man while he was on the ground and defenseless. All four men were intoxicated and are transients.

Today's Easy Walk with the Parks and Recreation Department takes you along the Moffat Open Space on the east side of town. The Children's Museum of Northern Nevada offers 'Books and Brags', essentially a story with craft time. Have a hot time with the fire-dancers of Controlled Burn: they meet at A to Zen on Tuesdays and welcome newcomers.
