Western Nevada College: 312 make Fall 2015 Dean’s List

Western Nevada College has named 312 students to the Fall 2015 Dean’s List. For consideration to WNC’s Dean’s List, students must complete at least 12 units during the semester and accumulate a grade point average of 3.50 or higher. Honorees are:

WNC Softball Preview: Wildcats Determined to Leave Legacy

The Western Nevada College 2016 softball team is poised to accomplish what no other Wildcat team before it has done: post a winning season and compete on equal footing with the Scenic West Athletic Conference's top teams.

By the end of last season, the Wildcats were capable of beating any team in the SWAC with a predominantly freshman lineup. They won a program-best 23 games, posted their first winning record at home and won two games in the Region 18 tournament.

District Attorney: Carson City compliant with ward voting structure following court decision

An error in a Reno newspaper about a recent federal court ruling has led to some confusion about ward elections in Carson City, according to District Attorney Jason Woodbury.

A panel of the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals recently ruled that a certain “hybrid” method of electing members to a governing body is unconstitutional.

Artists in Carson City, statewide bring new life to recyclables

The works of four Carson City artists were recognized Monday in a statewide art contest using recyclable material.
Student artists Stella Thornton and Jessica Preston, and adult artists Lisa Sheppard and Emily J. Cervi were listed as having either placed or received honorable mentions as part of the contest to recognize America Recycles Day.

Second suspect arrested in Carson City Harbor Freight armed robbery

The second suspect in a Sept. 19 armed robbery of Harbor Freight in Carson City has been arrested, according to the Carson City Sheriff's Office.
Kristafer Robinson, 37, was taken into custody Tuesday afternoon after detectives met with him at the Carson City Sheriff's Office, said Lt. Brian Humphrey. On Saturday, detectives arrested Chase Henderson, 25, of Carson City on armed robbery charges, plus charges of being an ex-felon with a gun and three drug charges. Suspect in Harbor Freight armed robbery in custody, second suspect remains at large

Carson City Sheriff’s Office detectives and the Special Enforcement Team arrested a 25-year-old man Saturday in connection with the Sept. 19 armed robbery of Harbor Freight in North Carson City.

Chase Henderson was taken into custody Saturday in the 100 block of Riley Circle. He faces charges of armed robbery and being a felon in possession of a gun, plus three felony drug-related charges, said Carson City Sheriff's Lt. Brian Humphrey.

Vintage aircraft at Carson City Airport Sunday to mark end of WWII

The Carson City Airport will have a number of vintage airplanes on display this Sunday, Aug. 30 from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m. for an event to celebrate the end of World War II.

Cactus Air Force Wings and Wheels Museum will have several pieces of vintage aircraft at the airport. The community is invited to this free event to mark the 70th anniversary of the end to World War II. Among the aircraft is a WWII era TBM avenger fly as well as plenty of other planes and vehicles from both WWII as well as Vietnam.

Western Nevada College to Graduate More than 500 at ceremony Monday in Carson City

Western Nevada College has announced that it will graduate 515 students for the 2014-15 academic year. The 2015 commencement ceremony will take place on Monday, May 18, 11 a.m. at the Marv Teixieira Pavilion in Mills Park, in Carson City.

WNC Softball: Wildcats Most Successful Season Ends
