Hello Carson City as we head into Thursday, June 6, 2019. Activities, art and entertainment abound as we get closer to the weekend. There's the kickoff of two main events, the Nevada State Fair at Mills Park and the Spring Street Vibrations at Battle Born Harley-Davidson. There's also a morning hike, art showings, an end of school year celebration with live music at Living the Good Life, and the Thursday night Cruise that begins at Vino's Pizza. Read on for more.

The Carson City Airport, in partnership with the Eagle Valley Children’s Home, will host the 2019 Open House and Fly-In on Saturday, June 29, 2019 from 8:00 A.M. until 4:00 P.M. The event takes place at the Carson City Airport, 2600 College Parkway, Carson City, Nevada.

Entry to the event is free to the public and draws thousands of visitors annually. Proceeds from new programming will benefit local non-profit, Eagle Valley Children's Home.

The second annual Kids to Parks Day was a jam-packed day full out outdoor activities at the Silver Saddle Ranch on Saturday in Carson City.

To celebrate Kids to Parks Day, children of all ages got the hands-on experience of outdoor recreation and safety through several informative booths and exciting activities around the ranch.

Career Bound NV, a division of JOIN Inc., is now accepting applications from qualified students in the class of 2020 and 2021 at Douglas High School and Aspire High School in Carson Valley for the pilot launch of the work-based learning program.

Sierra Lutheran High School, in collaboration with Bethlehem Lutheran Church and School and Mt. Cross Ministries, has released its 2019 Summer Programs registration. Collectively, the three entities will offer seven unique summer programs, including two week-long overnight programs.

April was an action packed month as several Carson High School clubs put on The Friendship Ball, A Night Under the Big Top Father Daughter Ball, and The Greatest Show on Earth 2019 Prom. Even more amazing than the dances are the students behind the scenes who, with the guidance of Leadership Adviser Ann Britt and FBLA Adviser Angila Golik, transformed the CHS Big Gym so that all visitors, young and old alike, would think they had walked into a beautiful dream.

Headed into Saturday, April 27, 2019 we're looking at another picture-perfect spring weather day and cool overnight temperatures. There's lots of activities ahead, including a colorful fun run at Mills Park, a free paper and document recycling event hosted by Debug Computer, a prescription drug roundup, the Silver State's own celebration of the Aloha State, a Carson High School speech team fundraiser at Flavors of India, art showings and sales and a fundraiser at Flat Earth Pizza for a wonderful Carson City woman who is in the throes of cancer. We're working our way into Thursday, April 25, 2019 and feeling the warmup around the Carson City region. Winding down our work week we have art, theater and railroad history talks, library presentations, a fitness walk, climate change discussion, back pain wellness workshop, music ensemble at the community center and more. Headed into Thursday, April 11, 2019 we welcome Carson City to another day where weather forecasters say there's a chance of rain and maybe even a few snow showers mixed in. Beyond the weather we're looking at a blockbuster day and night filled will activities throughout town. From library presentations, a TV show casting call at the Carson Nugget, an afternoon hike, to a train history presentation, a book signing at the Brewery Arts Center, a CHS theater performance and the Carson City movie screening premier of "The Mustang" filmed at the historic Nevada State Prison, there's something for everyone. CARSON CITY — For the second consecutive year, the Nevada State Museum will celebrate Hawaiian culture with “Lei Day.”

The Boys and Girls Club of Western Nevada, through partnering with Arts for Children of Nevada, came up with a mosaic art program that allowed both youth and teens to create, paint and design their own permanent mural.

Good morning Carson City. It is Thursday, April 4, 2019. As matters at the legislature continue, we are winding up for another weekend full of activities, including the downtown wine walk and a bevy of shows at the Brewery Arts Center. CARSON CITY — A total of 93 Career and Technical Education (CTE) and HOSA (Future Health Professionals) students competed in the Nevada State Leadership Conference held at the Rio in Las Vegas March 18-20.

There were a total of 74 students from Carson High School (CHS), 6 from Pioneer High School (PHS) and 13 from Carson Middle School (CMS). More than 1,000 students from across the state of Nevada competed in more than 40 medical competition events.

We can expect showers this morning with some clearing this afternoon. Speaking of NCAA basketball, the 7th ranked Nevada Wolf Pack Men's basketball team will face 10th ranked Florida Gators today, 3:50 p.m.

Today is Nevada Moves Day where schoolchildren will be walking and riding their bikes to and from school. Motorists may want to be especially careful as there are more kids on the sidewalks and crosswalks than usual.

Well we're here Carson City. We're heading into March 15, the last Friday of winter 2019. While March 20 may be the first day of Spring, the weekend ahead is about the Irish and their spring. Chase Johnson had a tiger by the tail once, and now he’s chasing another one. After the Carson City product received his Bachelors of Science in Psychology, with a Minor in Linguistics last year from Louisiana State University, the LSU Tigers alum, and 2014 Sierra Lutheran High School graduate, is now pursuing study of a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology at LSU.

Good morning Carson City. Today is Wednesday, March 13, 2019. Many of us woke up to a nice dusting of snow on the grass and around the hillsides. The white stuff won't last very long. While technically not Spring until March 20, a week from today, there's a noticeable warmup ahead, with high temperatures near 60 by Sunday.

CARSON CITY — As the district works on aligning workforce preparedness efforts under the Work-Based Learning umbrella, community partners will have more opportunities to share information with students including career exploration, preparation and training.

UPDATE: The Subaru, Leave No Trace Traveling Trainers will be leading an Awareness Workshop at the Carson City Community Center in the Bonanza Room tonight. Leave No Trace teaches outdoor skills and ethics, minimizing our impacts and enjoying the outdoors responsibly. The meeting starts at 6:30 p.m. Go here to register.

CARSON CITY — Museums from around the state will converge on the Nevada State Museum in Carson City on Tuesday, March 19 for the 2019 Nevada Museum Showcase.
