Heading into the last day of October and you know what that means: Happy Halloween! Best to bundle up under the costumes as Thursday will be another chilly day, though warmer than Wednesday. Activities around the capital city include a Muscle Powered afternoon hike, art showings, library activities and more. Read on for Halloween activities around the capital city.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of events around the Carson City region Friday through Sunday to celebrate Nevada Day. Activities include the annual parade down Carson Street, a carnival at Mills Park, the 30th annual Nevada Day Classic, The La Ka Lel Be Pow Wow at the MAC, beard and rock drilling contests, delicious food dishes, pancakes, chili and plenty of beverages to suit kids and adults of all ages.

Counting down the hours until the Nevada Day weekend celebration begins, we're heading into Thursday, Oct. 24, 2019 with sunny skies in the forecast through Sunday. Thursday opens the first of the four-day annual RSVP Nevada Day Carnival at Mills Park with $1 ride family night hosted by Carson City Toyota. Other activities around the capital city include a Muscle Powered afternoon hike, art showings, library activities, a gold and silver rush presentation at the Nevada State Museum and more.

We're days away from our celebration of statehood and the weather around the capital city couldn't be more, well, Nevada-like with daytime highs near 70 and sunny skies. Carson City area activities ahead for Wednesday, Oct. 23 feature an economic roundup presented by the Northern Nevada Development Authority at Casino Fandango, Carson Tahoe's annual "Spooktacular" family event, Firehouse Subs will host our local Search and Rescue for a dinner fundraiser; Sierra Nevada Journeys and Nature Conservancy will present family STEM night in Genoa, plus art showings and more. Good morning Carson City! We’ve got a ton of great events this Saturday, so check below for a list of delightful fall activities!

Sierra Nevada Journeys and the Nature Conservancy in Nevada will host a Family STEM Night and Open House from 5 to 7 p.m. Wednesday, October 23 at River Fork Ranch Preserve, 381 Genoa Lane, Minden, Nev.

The event will provide a fun and interactive experience for all ages where participants can enjoy hands-on science through STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) activities, and learn more about Sierra Nevada Journeys STEM nights and River Fork Ranch Preserve.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region to help the next three days breeze by. Events include Harvest Train festivities at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, Thomas the Tank Engine and steam train rides in Virginia City, the first-ever Gandy Dance in Dayton, October Ghost Walk Tours through downtown Carson City and more!

In partnership with Envirolution, a nonprofit organization dedicated to inspiring and empowering the next generation of leaders and workers to drive the growth of a sustainable economy, students in the Carson City School District will have the opportunity to charge their minds and connect career options by exploring STEM and sustainability programs with local businesses, including Tesla.

Going into the final stretch of the work week Thursday, Oct. 17, 2019 will bring cool conditions, a slight chance of rain and some sunshine. Activities around the capital city include a meeting of the Board of Supervisors, a Muscle Powered hike at Silver Saddle Ranch, a rally at the legislative building, modern western square dancing lessons, art showings, library activities and more. Saturday, October 12

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the final V&T Railway train rides of the 2019 season, the 27th annual Carson City Pumpkin Patch at Seeliger Elementary School, fundraisers around town, coin press demonstrations at the Nevada State Museum, comedy at the Carson Nugget and more!

Heading into Thursday, Oct. 10, 2019 and we're looking at continued sunshine and cool temperatures, with some warming in time for the weekend. Activities ahead around the capital city feature a workshop by Carson City TRIAD to prepare residents for Medicare open enrollment, a Muscle Powered led afternoon hike at Sedge Road, the grand opening of My Place Hotel, modern western square dancing lessons, art showings, library activities and more. Heading into the weekend, there’s a mountain of jam-packed activities over the next three days. Events include the 100th annual Candy Dance in Genoa, the Carson City Community Center Garage Sale, free walks at Nevada State Parks, Virginia City’s Street Vibrations Fall Rally, the 31st annual All-Breed Dog Shows, The Beatles Flashback tribute band concert and much more!

Heading into Thursday and the final stretch of the work week, it is shaping up to be eventful around the capital city area featuring a morning hike along Clear Creek hosted by Muscle Powered, activities at the Carson City Library, western square dancing offered through Carson City Parks and Recreation, Food Truck Thursday at Mills Park, Ladies' Night Out at Gather, a volunteer information hour and training hosted by Carson City's CASA, a lecture entitled "100 Years Later: The 1919 Transcontinental Military Motor Convoy" featured at the Nevada State Museum, and more.

Nevada Humanities presents a new exhibition, Imagine Nevada: Nevada Artists and Poets Celebrate 10 Years of Illustrated Word Exhibitions, on October 3, 2019 in partnership with the Las Vegas Book Festival.

Imagine Nevada, which will be on display at the Nevada Humanities Program Gallery in Las Vegas from October 3 – November 26, 2019, brings Nevada artists and poets together to collaborate on works that articulate the Las Vegas experience.

Students and teachers at the two middle schools in Carson City — Carson Middle and Eagle Valley Middle Schools — now have access to a curricular program that will give students an advantage in their education and future careers. The opportunity was made possible with the help of Tesla’s K-12 Education Investment Fund, the Nevada Department of Education and Project Lead The Way.

Events include the Rockabilly Riot car show, Dayton Valley Days, a pancreatic cancer awareness walk at Silver Oak Golf Course, the annual Pooch Plunge at the Carson Aquatic Facility, horse endurance races in Virginia City, history talks at Mormon Station Park and much more!

Coming up on the final stretch of the work week, Thursday, Sept. 19, 2019 is shaping up to be eventful around the capital city area, including a morning Tahoe Rim Trail hike hosted by Muscle Powered, a meeting of the Carson City Board of Supervisors, a Status of Women in Nevada meeting at the Carson Nugget, activities at the library including the first in a series of Job Seeking With Google workshops, plus the first of the three-day Rockabilly Riot car show at Mills Park and more. Friday Sept. 13, no bad luck on this day, beginning at 1:18 p.m. was an assembly in the Big Gym during the last class of the day as an introduction to CHS’ Happiest Homecoming on Earth. Leadership students led the assembly with the first activity being the introduction of the Homecoming King and Queen candidates who made their grand entrance onto the floor.

It’s going to get hot again today with a high of 93, but don’t worry, as we get out further into the week the weather will turn more autumnal with highs in the 70s. It could be the last hot day for a while, at least until a freak 90s+ hot day in November followed by a week long blizzard, so enjoy it while it’s here!

Events include the Silver State Art Festival at Fuji Park, suicide awareness walks in Carson City, a Celtic faire at Dangberg Home Ranch, the ninth annual Edible Pedal bike ride at Bowers Mansion, train rides in Virginia City and much more!

Heading into Thursday, Sept. 12, 2019, events around the capital city region include a morning hike at Lake Tahoe, a Healthy Communities meeting in Virginia City, a cross-country convoy of vintage military vehicles that will make a stopover at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, activities at the Carson City Library, book author presentations at the Nevada State Library and Archives and the Brewery Arts Center, food trucks at Mills Park and more. In wake of the recent studies conducted by Desert Research Institute and UC Davis finding microplastics in Lake Tahoe, local 501(c)(3), "Clean up the Lake" in partnership with Tahoe Dive Center, have decided to speed up their announcement of their pre-existing plan to do a 72-mile underwater-scuba trash clean up of the entire shoreline of Lake Tahoe in Nevada and California.
