Clear Creek Bowmen to hold 'Fun Youth' archery shoot

The Clear Creek Bowmen, an archery organization in Carson City, will hold a 3-D “Fun Youth” archery shoot on Saturday, May 7 for local youths, ages 12 and under.

That youth shoot will be held at the Centennial Park Archery Range (east of the Eagle Valley Golf Course), just off U.S. 50.

Yard sale to benefit the Greenhouse Project

A yard sale to benefit The Green House Project in Carson City will be held on Saturday, April 9, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the parking lot of Adele's Restaurant, 1112 North Carson Street.
Tableware, serving pieces and a wide variety of finds and treasures will be available.

Movie Review: 'Green Hornet' slightly funny but a weak stinger

I was prepared to write off "The Green Hornet" as just another superhero movie, aimed at comic-book readings kids. Well, I was partly wrong. The film now playing at the Fandango Galaxy multiplex in Carson City is aimed at the lower levels of intelligence, but along the way offers some humor and an incredible chase-crash-shootout scene. The scoring system tries to be all-inclusive, measuring fuel economy and carbon dioxide along with driving enjoyment and safety. While the "green" rating of a car could be measured many ways, these are the green cars that Kelly Blue Book employees will likely be seen driving.

Cow's 'plop' brings in the green for fundraiser

Organizers of this week's fundraiser at Fremont Elementary School are hoping it turns into a cash cow. Participants paid $5 for tickets, hoping to turn their investment into the $400 cash prize if the cow "plopped" in their section. The second plop got $200.Nearly two hours after arriving at the school Friday, however, there still were no cow pies."She's been holding out," said parent organizer Erin Lehman, who hoped this year's fundraiser would bring in $5,000.
