Empower Youth Conference Successfully Reaches Douglas Teens

Partnership Douglas County, formerly known as Partnership of Community Resources, hosted the 2nd annual Empower Youth Conference at the Douglas County Community and Senior Center on Saturday, Sept. 29. PDC, often called “The Partnership”, is a nonprofit community coalition that has served Douglas County since 1993. PDC’s mission is to promote a healthy community through education and resource connection.

Carson City Soroptimist to feature McKinney-Vento program coordinator at Sept. 26 meeting

Carson City Soroptimist will feature a presentation by Peggy Sweetland of the Carson City School District during its Program Meeting, Wednesday, Sept. 26, from noon until 1 p.m. at Glen Eagles Restaurant.

Carson City Soroptimist to present evening of community introduction Sept. 20

Soroptimist International of Carson City will host a special evening event to present information about club activities, as well as about projects to which it contributes nationally and globally. This gathering is not just for members, although members enjoy warm friendships and most will be there to enjoy themselves, but is also open to the public. A light supper and beverages will be provided. There is no charge to attend, however prior reservations are required.

Nevada receives $13.5 million in Federal Homeland Security funding

Nevada has been awarded $13.5 million from the U.S. Department of Homeland Security for the fiscal year, the state's Public Safety Division of Emergency Management and Homeland Security announced Wednesday.
