Heading into the weekend, there's a bevy of events around the Carson City region that brings a cool breeze to the first three days of summer. The 16th Motor Officer Challenge kicks off Friday at 7 a.m. at Mills Park. Lace up the shoes for a Friday morning walk at East Silver Saddle Ranch hosted by Muscle Powered.

Heading into Tuesday, June 18, 2019 we're looking at continued warming around the region with a daytime high around 91. Temperatures are expected to actually lower toward the end of the week. Events around town Tuesday include a Muscle Powered walk, hike and bike ride, yoga, exercises for the mind and body hosted by the Carson City Emblem Club, political gatherings, art activities and more.

Heading into Father’s Day weekend, there's plenty of jam-packed activities around the Carson City region. There's Flag Day ceremonies at the Nevada Veterans Memorial and at the Elks Lodge. The Stewart Father’s Day Powwow happens Friday to Sunday and features hundreds of American Indian dancers, drummers artists and cultural enthusiasts. Lace up the tennis shoes for the Eastside Historical tour of the capital city hosted by Muscle Powered. Journey of Hope returns to Western Nevada College at 5 p.m. to settle into the evening. Open Mic Night at A to Zen will cap-off an eventful Friday heading into the weekend.

Hello Carson City. It is Thursday, June 13, 2019. After last night's thunderstorms that shook around the capital city we're looking at plenty of sunshine today with a daytime high around 86. Activities lined up include workshops, an anniversary party and showing at Artsy Fartsy art gallery, Food Truck Thursday at Mills Park, a Kiwanis Club meeting and Chamber annual meeting at The Martin Hotel, Cruise Night at Bully's Sports Bar, live music outdoors at Living the Good Life and more. Heading into Wednesday, June 12, 2019 means we are half way through the work week. Temperatures will be around the 90 mark with a chance of afternoon showers. Good morning Carson City, and happy June! We have a ton of events going on today in our beloved capital city, with the June wine walk, the first day of the farmer’s market, a brew fest at Fuji park, and more! With a high of 75, it’s shaping up to finally start to feel like summer (knock on wood).

Heading into a jam-packed weekend of events around the Carson City region, there's a bevy of activities Friday to get your started. Lace up your shoes for a morning walk at Riverview Park, and then head on over to the Nevada State Museum for a coin press demonstration, and tours that explore anthropology and Nevada history. Later there's a cruise night gathering at Carson Mall to benefit Safe Grad Night, an Italian dinner fundraiser at the Governor's Mansion to benefit Carson City's homeless, live music at Living the Good Life and A to Zen, laughs at the Carson Comedy Club, and much more. Heading into Thursday, May 23, 2019 we ask: Can you feel it? Yes, the Memorial Day holiday is nearly here and we may even get a weather break or four in between expected showers through the weekend, forecasters say. Activities and events to round out this third Thursday of the month include a meet and greet of Carson City Library candidates at Adams Hub for Innovation, a day hike, a bicycle cruise on the west side of the capital city, a Lunch and Learn Workshop for local nonprofit organizations, a chamber luncheon focusing on mental health, a GOP meeting, art showings, live music and more. Heading into Saturday, May 18, 2019 we say welcome to the weekend Carson City. Activities abound throughout the region. Bring an umbrella as the forecast calls for some showers. But above all, enjoy the events and activities lined up in Carson City, Carson Valley, Mound House, Silver City, Virginia City and Dayton areas.

Carson City Soroptimist will present grant awards to two women, and honor the achievements of local high school seniors, on Wednesday, May 22, noon to 1 p.m. at Glen Eagles. The meeting is open to the public, with prior reservations required.

As we head into the middle of the month many of us haven't turned on the air conditioner because the weather outside has been comfortably, pleasantly air conditioned these past few weeks. And now with valley rain, wind and Sierra snow on the way, we tip our hat to one Carson Now reader, LaNair, who pledged he wouldn't turn on their heater these next few days because, well, it is May after all. Carson City Republican Women's upcoming event will be held this Saturday, May 18 in the Nevada Room at the Governor's Mansion. The theme for this event is "Proud to be an American" honoring every day patriots. Patriotic dress is encouraged but not mandatory.

The weekend is at our doorstep as we head into Friday, May 10, 2019. Even though forecasters say we may have showers this weekend, the cool spring rain won't dampen the fun. We have a bevy of activities lined up Friday including the opening of the Transcontinental Railroad exhibit at the Nevada State Railroad Museum, day 1 of the two-day Mother's Day Plant Sale hosted by The Greenhouse Project, RSVP's Spring Celebration and Carnival at Mills Park, a day hike, art showings, live music and more.

Heading into Thursday, May 9, 2019 we're looking at a few showers and partly sunny skies around Carson City. The event lineup features the RSVP Spring Celebration and Carnival kickoff and family night at Mills Park, a Healthy Communities event in Silver Springs, CASA volunteer information hour workshop, an afternoon hike along the Ash Canyon trail, art demonstrations, live music and more. What a week it was Carson City, and it isn't even over yet. Heading into Friday, May 3, 2019, we're looking at continued sunny skies and temperatures in the low 70s. There's a host of activities Friday and, looking ahead, a bevy of fun Saturday including a Mother's Day craft fair at the Carson City Community Center, a Star Wars themed bicycle safety day, a wine, cheese and dessert ride aboard the V&T, an early opening of the downtown farmer's market, the May Downtown Carson City Wine Walk, a memorial walk, presentations, comedy, live music and more. Oh what a difference the sunshine makes. The second day of May in Carson City will bring warming temperatures with a daytime high in the low 70s. During its lunch meeting on April 24, Carson City Soroptimist will present the Ruby Award to Susan Sorenson, the founder and director of the Northern Nevada Dream Center.

In an era where students are more comfortable communicating behind a screen rather than face-to-face, teaching Physical Education can be more than challenging at times. It seems that each year there are fewer students who enjoy physical activity. This year has been no different.

Good morning, Carson City. Today is Thursday, March 21, 2019. If there's something we can always count on the last 10 days of March, besides the NCAA basketball championships, is unsettled weather. We can expect showers this morning with some clearing this afternoon.
