Keep Tahoe Bears Wild: Agencies launch website to reduce human-bear conflicts

To help spread our message, we’ve launched a new website, TahoeBears.org, where residents and visitors can go to learn everything they need to know about living, visiting and playing responsibly in bear country.

Humboldt-Toiyabe National Forest welcomes new Carson District Ranger

In his new position, Zumstein will provide oversight of the staff and resources needed to manage over 400,000 acres of National Forest System lands in the eastern Sierra region of northeastern Nevada and eastern California.
Senator Square: First week of school a blast at Carson High School

The revitalization of the downtown began in late 2015 with the advent of the "hashtag" CarsonProud promotion that was created to engage and inform locals what to expect as the city progressed with the plans for revitalization. Most of the downtown core has received the “make over” promised.

The fishing is getting good all over our area. Before we get to our fishing report, let us remember that while we are out camping, we have to abide by some simple rules. Carson City Fire Department implements fire restrictions

Vegetation in western Nevada has dried out significantly. A large crop of grass and brush is evident at lower elevations and trees and other forest vegetation at higher elevations are quickly drying out. The public is encouraged to safely enjoy the public lands, bearing in mind that human-caused fires annually threaten human life, private property and public land resources every summer.

Epic Rides 'Hail the Trail' returns to benefit trails in Carson City, other host cities

To date, Hail the Trail has raised more than $70,000, benefiting trail building organizations in the host communities of the Epic Rides Series, including Muscle Powered in Carson City.
Carson City Fire Department called to assist fighting Pleasant Valley wildfire
Submitted by Jeff Munson on Mon, 07/08/2019 - 6:15pmUPDATE 8:51PM: I-580 has been cleared for traffic in both directions at Bowers Mansion, according to the Nevada Department of Transportation. Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District has revised the size of the fire to 12.5 acres.

UPDATE 8PM: Truckee Meadows Fire Protection District says the Temelec Fire, now contained, was likely caused by a car fire. Multiple agencies responded including Carson City Fire Department, BLM, Reno Fire Department, Sparks Fire Department, and the U.S. Forest Service. Four aircraft supported fire suppression. Officials say the aim is to have northbound I-580 at Bowers Mansion opened by 8:30 p.m.
Lake Tahoe beach cleanup Friday net 1,875 pounds of trash, 5,458 cigarette butts
