One month left to apply for Small Business Administration flood disaster loans

Acting District Director Ben Raju of the U.S. Small Business Administration’s Nevada District Office reminded Nevada businesses and residents on Friday of the April 24, 2017, deadline to apply for an SBA federal disaster loan for property damage caused by the severe winter storms, flooding and mudslides in northern Nevada that occurred Jan. 5-14, 2017.

Lyon County Commissioners declare flood emergency ahead of spring and summer snow melt

With river levels expected to rise in the weeks and months ahead, the Lyon County Board of Commissioners approved a declaration of emergency on Thursday for all of Lyon County in preparation for potential flooding from spring and summer snow melt run off.

U.S. 95 closed south of Fallon beginning Thursday through March 17 for flood control

CARSON CITY, NV – Gov. Brian Sandoval announced Tuesday that U.S. 95 south of Fallon will be closed this Thursday, March 9 through Friday, March 17 as the Nevada Department of Transportation installs additional drainage culverts to help protect the roadway during monumental local flood mitigation efforts.

Caltrans is advising motorists to expect delays on U.S. Highway 50 in El Dorado County for emergency repair work in three locations.

After the flood: Railroad Museum in Carson City to reopen Saturday

The Nevada State Railroad Museum, Carson City will reopen Saturday, March 4, with free weekend admission for all.
The museum has been closed since Jan. 8 due to significant damage from floodwaters that inundated the property, damaging the tracks, fire roads and a number of buildings.

Lyon County Emergency Management: Imminent failure of the South Dayton Retention Pond

UPDATE 5:05PM: Lyon County officials advise the immediate threat from the retention basin is over. Water is still flowing in the drainages but no property or structures are threatened at this time. No evacuations were ordered and there are no reported injuries or fatalities.

A powerful winter storm associated with a strong atmospheric river will bring gusty winds and very heavy precipitation to the Carson City, Carson Valley and Dayton areas and deep snow to the upper Sierra tonight through late Monday, according to the National Weather Service.

MINDEN — Douglas County, emergency officials continue to focus on assessment and recovery efforts as the flood waters subside. However, the region is expected to see more dangerous weather in the coming days.

Carson City area weather: Dry through Wednesday with series of storms returning Thursday

Dry weather over western Nevada, Carson City and Sierra will continue over the next couple days with more storms headed our way into next weekend and possibly beyond, according to the National Weather Service.

Lyon County Manager Sunday flood update

The gauge height of the Carson River is beginning to drop. We can expect to see high flows for a few days as the flood plain upstream begins to recede back into the river. We may get additional precipitation later in the week.

Carson City sheriff's arrest log: Man jailed for embezzlement

An 18-year-old Carson City man was arrested Friday evening at 6:10 p.m. in the 900 block of East Musser Street for suspicion of misdemeanor embezzlement, a Carson City Sheriff's deputy said.
