UPDATE: Nearly a week after having escaped Carson City Jail where he was an inmate, Michael Bass was taken into custody Monday night in Reno and is likely to be extradited back to Carson City to face criminal escape charges, Sheriff Ken Furlong said.

We will be clearing the Fulstone Wetlands the Multi-Use Path north from the Boys & Girls Club and (hopefully) the NDOT Right of Way between the fence and the sound wall. If you have rubber boots and want to focus on the wetlands please bring them.

Carson City weather: Windy conditions, slight chance of rain late Wednesday into Thursday

The next in a series of storms should arrive in the Carson City region Wednesday bringing more in the way of wind rather than significant amounts of valley rain or Sierra snow, according to the National Weather Service.

Carson City Fire Department called to brush fire off of Arrowhead Drive, half-acre fire knocked down

UPDATE 1:25PM: The fire in a storage lot area off of Arrowhead Drive is under control, burning around a half-acre, said Carson City Fire Department Chief Sean Slamon. No additional resources are needed.

UPDATE 1:12PM: Firefighters have made progress on the fire, knocking down much of the flames. The fire started in a storage lot area. Two older vehicles parked in the storage lot area were damaged. The cause of the fire is under investigation.

The Carson City Fire Department and sheriff's deputies were called Friday afternoon to a brush fire in the 5400 block of Arrowhead Drive.

Firefighters knock down brush fire off of West Winnie Lane

A brush fire behind a house on Cabrolet Drive on the west side of Carson City was quickly knocked down by firefighters late Friday morning.

The fire was reported at around 11 a.m. in the 1200 block of Cabrolet and burned into brush and a fence, putting up smoke and flames before firefighters knocked it down. It was fully extinguished at 11:41 a.m.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.

Saturday's Trash Mob focuses on Carson City multi-use trail

Trash Mobs are a grassroots community effort coordinated by Muscle Powered volunteers to keep the walkways and bike paths around Carson City free of litter.

The monthly, one-hour events take place at various locations around town that are in need of cleaning. Volunteers, who are supplied with work gloves and trash bags by Muscle Powered staff, remove litter from areas often used by citizens for recreational purposes such as walking, jogging or cycling.
