A Warning About Public Funding of Stadiums
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Wed, 10/05/2016 - 8:11amAs our readers know, we’re huge sports fans. So the idea of going to a professional sporting event in our home state of Nevada is very exciting.
And that excitement is resonating across Nevada as the Oakland Raiders are considering relocating to Las Vegas.
However, that excitement alone isn’t enough to justify higher taxes in order to provide public funding for constructing a new stadium. Professional sports are, after all, a business and should be financed on their own.

The baseball world goes into a frenzy with contending clubs trying to out do their closest competitor(s) for a stretch run into the playoffs and what all hope to be eventually a winning combination to the World Series.
For the Bay Area teams it was much of the same as it as been in recent seasons. San Francisco buys, and Oakland sells.
Although, some may say the Giants sold a little bit of their future today to win now and keep with the "even year" theme.
