Commenting Obstacles
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Sun, 03/20/2011 - 11:39amWhile I fully respect Kirk's decision to link comment posting to facebook, and also understand the reason he gives, I don't think it is the right step.
I've never heard about the major site "Techcrunch" which he mentions as having successfully implemented this, but I am sure everybody has heard about the major sites Los Angeles Times and CNN that implemented it as well and have since gone back to offering the traditional method of sign-up. Simply because too many participants refused to open a facebook account just to be able to comment; they simply don't trust this social network.
Movie Review: 'Take Me Home Tonight' a romantic comedy with lots of loud music
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Sun, 03/13/2011 - 8:26pmTake My Home Tonight" is supposed to be, I think, a blast from the past about 1988. It's playing at the Casino Fandango Galaxy multiplex in Carson City where the sound system is up to the wild and rocking music, luckily, since the music is the best thing in the film, even to non-rock fans like me.

Why Miles Davis left some of us behind and why we're just now catching up
Submitted by Carson Now Reader on Sun, 10/17/2010 - 5:31pmI’ve been a longtime fan of jazz trumpeter Miles Davis. This is, up until he moved beyond me into funk and rock, not exactly jazz to my way of thinking. I was still back with his record-selling “King of Blue” CD. Then I saw a listing in Netflix for “Miles Davis: Miles Electric: A Different Kind of Blue,” and I ordered it. Couldn’t be all bad, I figured.

An article in the Nevada Appeal this morning attempts to get new information from the Nugget Project’s “go to guy,” Steve Neighbors. Neighbors, who is now the owner of the Nugget, is quoted as saying that the project still lacks a developer to shoulder the “private industry” half of the project.
