Carson City's Pioneer High School students accept Challenge Day with Project Discovery

Late last month, Pioneer High School literally sailed student learning outside of the classroom into the Carson City Community Center pool at their first all-school Challenge Day event with Reno-based Project Discovery.

Featured speaker at Monday's Carson City Democratic luncheon will be Tod Colegrove, who recently took the reins as Carson City Library Director, replacing Sena Loyd who resigned in February to take a job in the private sector. He holds a doctorate and masters degree in physics, and a masters of library and information science with concentration in competitive intelligence and knowledge management.

Carson City's Empire Elementary awarded $5K Rotary grant for STEM Parent Nights

The Carson City School District, on behalf of the Rotary Club of Carson City, is pleased to announce Empire Elementary School as the winner of a $5,000 grant to hold four Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics, Parent Nights at their school. Nearly a dozen applications from teachers and teams of teachers were received for this competitive STEM grant.

Nevada high school science performance improves statewide by 5.1 percent

CARSON CITY — Nevada high school science students showed a 5.09 percent improvement this year over 2017-18 results. Science performance in elementary schools increased over the prior year while middle school performance decreased, according to a highlight summary released Wednesday by the Nevada Department of Education.
