Board of Supervisors to discuss potential new permanent RV community on Old Hot Springs Road
The Carson City Board of Supervisors will be hosting their upcoming meeting on Thursday, October 17 beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Sierra Room of the Community Center, located at 851 E. William Street.
There are several special presentations on the docket to be discussed.
— First on the list is a presentation by Fire Chief Sean Slamon presenting a proclamation to recognize the week of October 6-12 as Fire Prevention Week.
— Then, a Length of Service Award Ceremony will be held, honoring city employees with certificates.
— Brian Doyal, a Civil Engineering Designer with the city, will be honored as Employee-Of-The-Quarter for outstanding efforts which help the city achieve the strategic goals adopted by the Board.
— A discussion and possible action will be held to appoint one member to the Airport Authority to fill the “Pilot” position for a term ending in October, 2023.
The Airport Authority creates a seven member authority as appointed by the Board of Supervisors. There is one vacancy for “Pilot” to be filled due to a member’s expired term.
— From Community Development, Planning, the Board will discuss and hold possible action to introduce an ordinance changing the zoning from Tourist Commercial to Tourist Commercial Planned Unit Development for a Tentative Planned Unit Development.
This proposal indicates the developer would like to create 227 RV lots for sale on property zoned Tourist Commercial, located at 1400 Old Hot Springs Road.
The applicant is seeking approval for the sale of individual lots with amenities that would include a sales office, gate house, clubhouse, maintenance building, pool, tennis court, pickle ball court, cafe, a 9 hole putting golf course, open space, and more.
— From the Carson City Sheriff’s Office, Sheriff Ken Furlong will host a discussion with possible action regarding the School Safety grant award received by the District. This grant creates one new Sergeant position and one new Deputy Sheriff position within the Sheriff’s Office to be deployed as School Resource Officers in the Carson City School District.
Personnel costs are not to exceed $626,160.05 during the two-year period of the grant.
The Staff Summary is as follows: The purpose of the School Safety account was to create a comprehensive approach to school safety with both policy and fiscal enhancements. In doing so, the State Legislature created a budget enhancement where a total of $10 million dollars would be available for distribution throughout the state during the budget biennium. The Carson City School District applied and was awarded a total of $626,160.05 for one Sergeant and one Deputy position for the two-year period. The addition of these two positions will provide a more comprehensive coverage for the Carson City Sheriff's Office School Resource Officers, increasing safety across the district.
— A discussion and possible action regarding a proposed resolution to accept the highest bid for the sale of Carson City property located on Brown Street will be hosted.
This property totals 2.78 acres and was set at public auction for a minimum purchase price of $300,000.
— A discussion and possible action will be held regarding the Safe Drinking Water Act Analytical Services with Eurofins Eaton Analytical, LLC. for a total amount not to exceed $240,000 payable over three calendar years.
The Carson City Public Water System is required to be tested to ensure that it meets all state and federal regulations governing water quality.
