A Yerington man faces multiple charges including felony drug possession after Carson City authorities arrested him in a sting operation involving the sale of alcohol to minors.
Nicholas Salas, 43, was arrested after a search found methamphetamine, a meth pipe and false identification.
According to the Carson City Sheriff's Office arrest report, detectives were assigned on May 31 to work outside the AMPM in the 2700 block of Highway 50 East on a shoulder tap detail, which involves using government grant-funded undercover decoys.

Carson City woman accused of stealing from mother to pay off drug dealer

A 23-year-old unemployed Carson City woman faces multiple felony charges in connection with a series of thefts associated with paying off a drug dealer.
Bailey Michelle Wilson was arrested on Tuesday at the 3700 block of Hobart Road following an investigation in which the suspect's mother found the stolen items, including jewelry, inside a pawn shop.
Wilson faces felony charges of grand larceny, burglary, obtaining money under false pretenses and possession of stolen property. Bail has been set at $25,000.

A Carson City man faces felony and misdemeanor charges after allegedly stealing a Jeep Cherokee and switching license plates.
Scott Michael Tyzbir, 49, faces charges of possession of a stolen vehicle, possession of a hypodermic needle and possessing drug paraphernalia. His bail was set at $27,264.

A Grass Valley woman faces multiple charges, including driving under the influence of drugs, carrying a prescription drug without a prescription, marijuana possession and having a hypodermic needle.
According to the arrest report, on Tuesday at about 7 p.m. dispatch broadcasted an attempt to locate a possible DUI driver in a white Acura with California plates, speeding on Carson Street and unable to maintain a single lane.

Carson City man faces felony charges; admits to stealing $2000 from JCPenney safe

A 25-year-old JCPenney supervisor was arrested Friday after admitting to store officials that he stole around $2,000 from the store's safe, which was captured on video surveillance.

Carson City woman faces drug charge after unprescribed pill found in bottle

A traffic stop near Airport Road in Carson City resulted in the arrest of two women, one of whom allegedly was in possession of a pharmaceutical drug without a prescription.
According to the arrest report, a vehicle was stopped on Sunday and an unidentified driver was arrested for DUI.
During the investigation, a deputy asked the arresting officer to have the vehicle towed. While conducting a vehicle inventory, a deputy found an orange pill bottle with the suspect's name on the top, according to the arrest report. The suspect was a passenger in the vehicle.

A Carson City man who told authorities he was hanging out in the bushes behind the old K-Mart because there was a box of clothes he was going through, was arrested on drug charges.
Kermit Kincheloe, 49, faces a felony charge of possession of methamphetamine and a misdemeanor charge of drug paraphernalia, according to Carson City deputies.

Road rage incident lands Carson City man in jail

A 24-year-old Carson City man faces multiple charges including assault with a deadly weapon in a road rage incident where the victim was allegedly assaulted with a crutch.
On Thursday at about 4 p.m. the suspect, John Delvecchio, was allegedly driving in an aggressive manner in an unregistered Cadillac, tailgating, honking his horn, cursing and attempting to run the victim off the road several times between the Douglas County Sheriff's Office building in Gardnerville and the Carson City limits, according to the arrest report.

Carson City girl shaken by bizarre attack at community center

CARSON CITY — A 14-year-old Carson City girl who was taking a break from "The Sound of Music" rehearsals Thursday night at the Carson City Community Center, said she pushed away a man who "came out of nowhere" and jumped on top of her as stunned friends watched.

"I was kind of freaked out," the 14-year-old victim told Carson Now late Thursday night. "I just held my breath and pushed him off of me."

The unidentified man, who had led authorities on a car chase through town, was detained shortly after the attack by Carson City deputies. The incident began at about 8:30 p.m.

Deputies arrest man after chase through Carson City Community Center (UPDATED)

A man attempted to elude authorities tonight, driving his vehicle onto the lawn area of the Carson City Community Center, running through the building and then jumping on top of a 14-year-old girl before being detained by deputies.

The event happened at 8:32 p.m. when a justice court officer spotted the man driving erratically down Carson Street, nearly hitting a motorcyclist. The man was traveling at a high rate of speed and didn't stop, said Sgt. Mike Cullen.

A Clark County District Court jury last Friday ordered Teva Pharmaceutical Industries and Baxter Healthcare Services to pay a combined $500 million in punitive damages to a Nevada man who contracted Hepatitis C during an outbreak two years ago.
The jury award was the largest in Nevada history.
In a statement issued shortly after the jury reached its decision, Teva said it planned to contest the verdict.  A spokesman for Baxter later confirmed the company will also most likely appeal.

Carson City man faces felony drug sale and trafficking charges

An unemployed Carson City man was arrested Tuesday on a Tri-Net warrant charging possession and sale of drugs, according to a deputy report.
The man, Marco Antonio Mendez, 34, was an inmate in the Carson City Jail who had recently been transported from the Northern Nevada Correctional Center.
The warrant was a complaint filed from the deputy district attorney alleging the sale of a schedule I controlled substance, drug trafficking of between four and 14 grams and drug trafficking of substances 28 grams or more. All charges are felonies. Bail has been set at $100,000.

Carson City deputies arrest Dayton man after finding balloons with heroin

A Dayton man was arrested and faces felony drug charges after law officers discovered eight balloons of suspected heroin in his possession.

The arrest was made after Carson City deputies with the Special Enforcement Team were assigned to look for a separate man who had violated his parole, in the neighborhood of 20 College Parkway, at an apartment known for drug activity. The man — who was left to watch a small child — attempted to jump out of a second floor window, according to the arrest report. He was taken into custody.

Carson City authorities make drug-related arrest in Craigslist sting

Two Carson Valley men face several charges, including felony offering of a controlled substance, following a sting set up by authorities on Craigslist to lure people to an underage party at a Carson City hotel.

An advertisement had been placed on Craigslist by Carson City sheriff's deputies that called for drinks at a party given by an 18-year-old. According to the arrest report, two 18-year-old decoys had been communicating with one of the suspects, who said that he would bring marijuana to the party.

Paul Allen Jennings, 39, of Carson City, and Shadine Ford, 24, of Gardnerville, face several felony charges after authorities found the pair hiding in the bushes after admitting they broke into a Carson City home. The pair also told authorities they had been involved in several vehicle burglary and break-ins over the past few days because, they said, they needed the money.

Carson City man jailed after text message pot deal discovered

A 20-year-old unemployed Carson City man faces felony drug charges following an arrest on Saturday that involved text messaging a deal to sell $500 worth of marijuana.

Carson City deputies assigned to the Special Enforcement Team learned that the man was offering to sell the marijuana to a subject. Through cell phone text message, the suspect arranged to meet the subject at the 1400 block of Spooner Drive, according to the arrest report.

Deputies of the Carson City Sheriff’s Protective Association have endorsed fellow officer Bob Guimont for the city's top elected law enforcement leadership position.

Of the 75 ballots cast, and 60 returned, Guimont racked up 45 votes, or 86.5 percent of the actual votes cast, followed by incumbent sheriff Ken Furlong with four votes and challenger Bob White, a sheriff's office captain, with three votes. Carson City woman arrested after hiding meth inside motel toilet paper roll

A 39-year-old Carson City computer specialist faces felony and misdemeanor drug charges after authorities found methamphetamine and a glass pipe hidden inside the tube of a fresh roll of toilet paper at a South Carson Street motel room.

According to the arrest report, authorities were called to the Motel 6 on South Carson Street at about 2:30 this morning after reports that possible drug activity and property damage was being done inside the room.

A 41-year-old Carson City woman faces felony drug and misdemeanor obstruction charges after officers found bottles of prescription drugs that didn't belong to her.

Deputies arrested the woman following a traffic stop in which a female driver was clocked doing a 40 in a 25 mph zone on Friday at about 2 p.m. An officer asked for identification from the suspect, who was the passenger in the car. The name, date of birth and Social Security number she gave officers didn't match anyone in the Nevada or California database.

Dean Heller spins some tall tales for his hometown friends

I've always liked Dean Heller. We might disagree politically, but my interactions with him have always been friendly. He seems like a truly nice person, the opposite of the what we see in some other Nevada politicians.

But watching him this week at the NNDA breakfast reminded me that Dean's ambition is clearly more important than adherence to truth.

You see, Dean used to come off as a lot more moderate than he does today. As assemblyman and Secretary of State, he championed causes that don't exactly line up with the national GOP's ideology.
