Carson Lanes Open House Continues Through Sunday in Carson City

The open house began Saturday morning with a ribbon cutting ceremony.
Tonight, Saturday, the Band Intent will play through 11:30 p.m. in the Eleventh Frame Winners Lounge.
Activities continue at Tahoe Tallac Site with Valhalla Arts, Music and Theatre Festival

The Festival takes place at the historic Tahoe Tallac site, a 74-acre setting currently listed on the National Register of Historic Places and a 1800’s favorite getaway for Northern California’s elite members of society. But you don’t have to be an elite member of society to enjoy the variety of affordable and sometimes even free events at the Valhalla Festival.
Flash flood warning issued for Carson City; power line snaps
Submitted by editor on Sat, 07/24/2010 - 5:21pmA flash flood warning issued for Carson City has expired but continues through 6:15 p.m. in central Douglas County, according to the National Weather Service in Reno. Rain and heavy winds have punched the region, with reports of power outages in east and west Carson City.
In addition, the westbound lane of Highway 50 going up to Spooner Summit is closed, with Nevada Highway Patrol diverting traffic. No word yet on the cause for the closure.
A power line snapped and a transformer is down in the area of Spear and Nevada streets near Division. Carson City fire crews and the Carson City Sheriff's Office closed portions of traffic in the area. The downed power lines did not arc and were not live on the ground, according to fire personnel on the scene.

Submitted by editor on Thu, 06/10/2010 - 3:52pmIt was a glorious time in the spirit of Old Glory. Carson City Mayor Robert Crowell welcomed the United States Air Force Band of the Golden West to Carson City Wednesday night.
The performance held at the Bob Boldrick Community Center was a solid smash and delighted the mostly senior audience, many of whom served in the military. The last time the full band was in Carson City was in the fall of 2006.
Carson City Sheriff's Office picked to host state DARE conference

It is the second time Carson City has been selected to host the annual event, which brings DARE officers together from around the state to discuss programs, curriculum and prevention issues.
There will be around 35 officers who will attend the Carson City event.
Carson City couple face child neglect charges; home filled with excrement, moldy food

Katherine Denise Martin, 20 and Grant Austin, 21, each faces gross misdemeanor child neglect and endangerment charges after Carson City Sheriff's Office deputies made the May 28 discovery at the College Parkway apartment. Bail has been set at $2,500 each.

The free concert will be held on Wednesday, June 9 at 7:30 p.m. at the Bob Boldrick Community Center. Mayor Bob Crowell, a Navy Captain and veteran, will introduce Major Keith Bland, Commander of the band.
