Happy Saturday Carson City! Tired of the fog yet? Well, there's a big storm that's scheduled to push in tomorrow, so it'll be interesting to see how that changes the weather.

Either way, we've got a ton of excellent events scheduled throughout the weekend, fog or no! Check below to see what's happening int he capital city for today and tomorrow.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of holiday events around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the Silver and Snowflake Festival of Lights, the 24th annual Parade of Lights in Gardnerville, the annual Project Empty Bowls dinner held at the Carson Mall, a Holiday Crawl in downtown Carson City and much more! The days keep moving along, ever closer to the weekend and huge helpings of Christmas holiday activities. Thursday events around the capital city include a meeting of the Board of Supervisors, an afternoon hike hosted by Muscle Powered, a meeting with the developer of the proposed Andersen Ranch, a presentation: "Feathers and Furs of the Carson Valley" at the River Fork Ranch, an "End to Prohibition Party" at Gather restaurant, and more.

The break in the stormy weather was a short one, with more precipitation later in the day Wednesday, forecasters say. Activities around Carson City on Dec. 4 include a "Red Kettle" job hiring event at the Carson City Salvation Army, a Fitness Lab grand opening on Minnesota Street, a "Get Fit with Fight Camp" at Yaple's Ballroom, art showings, library activities, classes and more.

Snow days, snow way. At least that's what the weather forecast calls for Tuesday. We'll see mostly cloudy skies before another chance of rain or snow arrives midweek and then a larger storm in time for the weekend. As the saying goes of Nevada weather: Wait a minute and it will change. It is also #GivingTuesday. If you have a favorite organization, it's a good time to send a few dollars their way. Around town there's art showings, a fitness walk, hike, dance classes and an old school film favorite at the Brewery Arts Center hosted by the Carson City Classic Cinema Club.

With Thanksgiving leftovers winding down, we're winding up to the second day in December and the first day of the work week ahead, with activities lined up through the weekend. For Monday, activities around the capital city include a free yoga class offered through Partnership Carson City, a discussion on the Tom Steyer campaign hosted by the Carson City Democratic Men's Club, art events and more. Everyone has a disability of some kind, but most learn how to cope with or overcome it; however, not everyone with a disability is aware enough to recognize whether or not they even have a physical challenge. These individuals have a severe and profound physical and neurological disability, cannot care for themselves, need full-time assistance, and are some of the kindest human beings in the world, many of whom are students in the Carson City School District and at CHS. Each year, students in the CHS Comprehensive Life Skills program make crafts to sell at the annual CHS Craft Fair and give as gifts.

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of activities around the Carson City region over the next three days. Events include the 31st season of the Nutcracker Ballet, a Feast with a Hero fundraiser at Slot World, Small Business Saturday throughout Carson City and Carson Valley, photos with Santa, a Telegraph Square sign dedication, Polar Express train rides at the V&T Railroad and more!

Heavenly Mountain Resort at Lake Tahoe welcomed skiers and boarders to the slopes Wednesday morning with 11 inches of new snow on the ground, launching the 2019-20 winter season.

With snow overnight into the morning, the eve of Thanksgiving will bustle with last minute food shopping and, for many, preparing for an extended holiday weekend. There's a few activities around Carson City on Wednesday, Nov. 27 including a "Get Fit with Fight Camp" at Yaple's Ballroom, art showings, classes and more.

Sign up to audition for "Heather the Musical (High School Edition)," on December 21 at 10:00 am (callbacks later that day). This production is the inaugural show of the newly-formed adult and young adult theater company, Wild Horse Stage Company which produces both small and large scale shows geared towards adult and young adult performers and audiences in Northern Nevada. We are dedicated to producing high-caliber, innovative productions of contemporary theater that inspire, engage, and entertain the community.

With the season's first big winter storm expected to arrive later Tuesday evening into Thanksgiving, you can still get in activities around the capital city before the snow flies. The American Citizen Essay winners are in, and they all have one thing in common: cash prizes. This year, the Carson City School District Board of Trustees selected the topic, “An early motto of the United States was e pluribus unum, which means ‘out of many, one,’ so how do we embrace diversity and inclusiveness to come together as one country?”

Events include the 25th annual Carson High School Holiday Craft Fair, a “War of the Worlds” play at the Brewery Arts Center, a Chili Bingo Night fundraiser to benefit the Carson Middle School Band, laughs at the Carson Nugget and much more.

Partly sunny skies and cool temperatures are expected Thursday with a warmup in time for the weekend. Events ahead around the capital city include a meeting of the Board of Supervisors, a discussion on holiday stress and dementia offered by Carson Tahoe Expressions Memory Care, and an afternoon hike hosted by Muscle Powered. Also ahead, Carson City's GOP will host a discussion with several political leaders representing the capital city. There will be a 'Glorious Expanse' artist reception at WNC Gallery, plus library activities and more.

During the cold winter months in a pocket of the capital city, a bit of magic is sprinkled about on the historic rail that once transported gold from Virginia City to the mint in Carson City, but now transports elves, hot cocoa, and silver bells for a few special weeks each year.

The Polar Express rolled into town on Nov. 15 with the help of the historic V&T Railway Commission, and with it, a certain jolly old man and his magical helpers.

Heading into Wednesday, Nov. 20, 2019, events around the capital city include a Polka Dot Powerhouse lunch connect at Red's Old 395 Grill, "Get Fit with Fight Camp" at Yaple's Ballroom, the Navy League capital city chapter will celebrate veterans at its monthly meeting held at Gold Dust West, the Carson City School District seeks public input on its Strategic Plan at a community meeting, plus art showings, classes and more.

Are you dreaming of a far away place where snowflakes, bonbons and sugarplum fairies come to life? Pinkerton Ballet Theatre is pleased to present the 31st Anniversary of The Nutcracker Ballet featuring a live orchestra Thanksgiving weekend at the Carson City Community Center.

Even though valley rain and Sierra snow happen this time of year, we're in for a brief change after going weeks without any precipitation. Enjoy the changeup. I visited a performance center in Richmond, California last week and came away mightily impressed. How's this for a mission statement:

John Nicholas Sulli was born Jan. 1, 1953, in San Jose, Calif., to Emil and Eleanor Sulli. Surrounded by the family and caregivers that loved and cared for him, on Nov. 8, 2019, he passed peacefully and sweetly from this life to reunite with his family who have pre-deceased him. Johnny was blessed with being born and living with Down's Syndrome for 66 years, 10 months in mortality.

The First Annual Indigenous People's Heritage Day will be held at the Northern Nevada Children’s Museum in Carson City, located at 813 N. Carson St. tomorrow, Saturday Nov. 16 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m.

This free event is sure to be an exciting one, where people of all ages will learn about our region’s native peoples and become immersed in Washiw Tribe culture.
