Famed Nevada chef and restaurateur Mark Estee stars in upcoming Food Network series

Mark Estee, Northern Nevada’s celebrity chef and restaurateur with a restaurant portfolio including Liberty Food & Wine, The Union, and Cucina Lupo in Carson City, Overland Restaurant & Pub in Gardnerville, and chez louie, is adding a new title to his name, Food Network star.

Cab Calloway Orchestra, Feast of Chocolate, Artsy Fartsy jewelry show and more: Carson City region readies for weekend

Heading into the weekend, there’s a bevy of events around the Carson City region over the next three days. Dozens of sweets are in store for Saturday. The American Association of University Women holds its 20th annual Feast of Chocolate at the Carson Plaza and Event Center. Artsy Fartsy Gallery hosts its 9th annual Jewelry and Chocolate Show with several new decorative pieces. To cap-off Saturday, the legendary Cab Calloway Orchestra makes its way to the capital city.

Fremont Elementary Students being rezoned to Eagle Valley Middle to be discussed at upcoming School Board Meeting

The last Carson City School Board meeting of January will be held Tuesday, Jan. 28 in the Sierra Room of the Community Center, located at 851 E. William Street beginning at 7 p.m.

On the docket for discussion will be the rezoning of Fremont Elementary-zoned students for Eagle Valley, recognition of teachers, an update on the elementary reading program, and more.

Carson City's 'Feast of Chocolate' celebrates 20th year, hosted by AAUW Capital Branch

The Carson High School senior class of 2019 arose early, not an easy task for a high school student, to celebrate the rising of the sun on this their final year of high school. A tradition that began decades ago at CHS has seniors jumping out of bed still wearing their pajamas, grabbing their blankets, and heading off to the CHS football field to arrive by 6 a.m.

Senator Square: New technology policy at CHS

A new, yet not so new, technology policy at CHS has upset some and caused others to look at the potential benefits.

No longer are students allowed to possess their earbuds at school let alone use them during breaks or at lunch time. Accessing cell-phones during class may also result in confiscation, delivery to the office, and a call home to have the parent or guardian come and personally pick it up from the office.

Mikeala Asby, a Carson High School culinary arts student will receive a $1,000 college scholarship from the Rotary Club of Reno Sunrise for working at the Club’s 7th annual “Edible Pedal 100” bicycle ride.
