Here we go, Carson City, it is Tuesday, April 16, 2019. Another mixed bag of weather around the capital city today, with mostly cloudy skies and a few showers in the morning and then mostly sunny later in the afternoon with daytime highs in the upper 50s. Not bad for a spring day.

We are excited to announce that this year’s Sunday Easter Service will be held at the Carson City Community Center Theater, 10:30 a.m., located at 851 E. William Street.

There will be special activities for the kids, and coffee and donuts in the lobby for all.

Here we are, entering the end of the work week. We welcome Friday, April 12, 2019 with a forecast calling for mostly sunny skies with a daytime high in the low to mid 50s. Not bad. The Carson High Theatre Arts department is proud to present "The Addams Family Musical" Friday, April 12 at 7 pm, April 13 at 2 pm and 7 pm, and April 14 at 2 pm.

"The Addams Family" is about a ghoulish American family who revolve around darkness and death. Wednesday, the daughter, falls in love with Lucas, a boy from Ohio. After many musical numbers, the ending is something quite spectacular. (I don't want to spoil it for you!)

The Carson City Cultural Commission will hold a special meeting on Tuesday, April 16, beginning at 5:30 p.m. in the Sierra Room of the Community Center. On the docket for discussion will be the Department of Arts and Culture budget, a "Celebrate Culture!" grant guideline and more.

Headed into Thursday, April 11, 2019 we welcome Carson City to another day where weather forecasters say there's a chance of rain and maybe even a few snow showers mixed in. Beyond the weather we're looking at a blockbuster day and night filled will activities throughout town. From library presentations, a TV show casting call at the Carson Nugget, an afternoon hike, to a train history presentation, a book signing at the Brewery Arts Center, a CHS theater performance and the Carson City movie screening premier of "The Mustang" filmed at the historic Nevada State Prison, there's something for everyone. SILVER SPRINGS, Nev. — Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties’ April public meeting is on Thursday, April 11, 9 a.m. at the Silver Springs Community Center, 2945 Fort Churchill Street. This month, the two hour meeting includes a special one-hour presentation on “Domestic Violence and Coordinated Community Response.”

Well the weekend sure went fast as we say goodbye to March. Now we're heading into Monday, April 1, 2019 where pranks, larks and tom foolery are orders of the day. No fooling when it comes to the weather though. We may see a slight chance of showers in the afternoon and evening with more of a chance of rain on Tuesday. Stay tuned.

The April Board of Supervisors meeting will be held on April 4 beginning at 8:30 am. Items on the table for discussion include a tax on tobacco vapor products, legislation regarding marijuana shop taxes, expanding hiking trail systems, upcoming legislation, and more.

The April 4 meeting will occur in the Sierra Room of the community center, located at 851 E. William Street.

Welcome Carson City to Sunday, March 31, 2019. The last day of the month will bring sunny skies and a daytime high somewhere in the low 60s. Ideal spring weather before the next system arrives Monday bringing with it warmer temperatures but showers as well. Today there's art gallery showings, two children's theater performances, a bike ride and a tour of the stone Wungnema House at Mills Park.

Youth Theatre Carson City is thrilled to announce its upcoming weekend springtime double feature, including "A Year With Frog and Toad, Kids," and Disney’s "The Jungle Book, Kids." These two shows will run in conjunction for four performances, March 29-31, 2019 the newly renovated Bob Boldrick Theatre at the Carson City Community Center.

CARSON CITY — With the end of the school year drawing nigh, the Carson City School District announced Tuesday that it meets or exceeds the minimum number of minutes taught per day, and in turn, students will not be required to make up the one day lost due to a weather-related school cancellation.

On March 29-31, 2019, Youth Theatre Carson City will be performing their Springtime Double Feature 'Frog and Toad Kids' and 'Disney's The Jungle Book Kids'. The times will be Friday, March 29 at 7 p.m., Saturday, March 30 at 2 p.m., another show on Saturday March 30 at 7 p.m. and Sunday, March 31 at 2 p.m.

'Disney's The Jungle Book Kids' is about a boy named Mowgli who lives in a jungle with many other animals. He is being hunted down by the mean tiger, Shere Kahn. Come see the show as you watch Mowgli's fantastic journey to defeating Shere Kahn.

On Monday, April 1, 2019, Carson City will hold a public information open house on the proposed FY 2020 Budget at the Carson City Community Center.

Come watch a doubleheader March 30 as your local Carson Victory Rollers battle it out with the Lockeford Liberators and the Carson Junior Victory Rollers take on the Little Rascals. The event takes place at the Carson Community Center gym.

Expect mostly sunshine and cloudy skies today as a weather system is expected to move into the region later tonight bringing rain showers to the lower valleys and some snow to the Sierra for the first day of Spring. Here's what is happening around town today, including free admission to the Nevada State Museum.

The next meeting of the Board of Supervisors will be held Thursday, March 21, beginning at 8:30 a.m. in the Sierra Room of the community center located at 851 E. William Street.

Items on the docket include runaway youths, the Ross Gold Park Playground Replacement and ADA Access Project among others.

The Carson City School Board will host its next meeting on March 12 at 7 p.m. in the Sierra Room of the Carson City Community Center, located at 851 E. William Street.

Topics to discuss will include the Superintendent’s Report, which will go over the NJROTC Orienteering Team and the report from the national competition. In addition, the Carson City High School Cheer Team and the recognition of third place winner at the USA Spirit Nationals Competition will be discussed.

Sergio Trejo Jr., a Las Vegas native and first-generation college graduate, visited several Carson City schools recently to share his inspiring story about his admittance to medical school. Trejo presented to more than 150 students.

Both Carson High School Wind Ensemble and Concert Bands achieved superior ratings, the highest possible rating.

Twelve bands from Churchill, Douglas, Fernley and Dayton competed in the Northern Zone Nevada Music Educators Association High School Band Festival at the Carson City Community Center on March 7, 2019.

It's "big-band jazz times three" when the Mile High Jazz Band, Carson High Jazz Band, and Carson Middle School Jazz Band present the 16th annual combined Jazz Extravaganza concert Tuesday, March 19 in the Bob Boldrick Theater at the Carson City Community Center.
