Record number of homeless Carson City children fill shopping carts at 14th Holiday With a Hero

At least 240 homeless children from across the Carson City School District met with Santa Claus before being paired with first responder heroes for a Christmas shopping spree.

The Russian ambassador has been shot and killed in Turkey by a fanatic. Another European terrorist attack has taken place in Berlin, Germany, killing at least 12 people and wounding dozens of others during the Christmas shopping season. Back in Aleppo, Syria, the Assad government is finishing off the horrific killings of its own people as well as rescue helpers and hundreds of Christians — many of whom are women and children.

A fast moving winter storm continues to drop snow on the valley floors this morning, with anywhere from 4 to 5 inches thus far by this afternoon, with up to 9 possible by the time the storm leaves. A Winter Weather Advisory for Carson City, Carson Valley, Dayton and Reno areas runs through 10 tonight.

Tickets for the Holiday Crawl are available at local businesses, including Fingerprinting Express, Caterpillar’s Hookah Lounge, Westside Pour House, and Carson City Visitors Bureau; as well as Carson Fire Station 51, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office and Juvenile Probation. Attendees must be 21 and over.
