Saturday, October 10th and Sunday, October 11th, have been designated “White Cane Days” by the Carson City Host Lions Club.

Lions will be available at the North Carson Street Save Mart from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day to bring awareness to the public of the sight preservation programs the Lions support, and to raise funds as part of the annual White Cane Days.

Maddie’s Pet Adoption Days offers free dog and cat adoptions at participating Nevada animal shelters

INCLINE VILLAGE — Maddie’s Pet Project of Nevada is proud to announce Maddie’s Pet Adoption Days happening Friday, Sept. 25 through Sunday Sept. 27, 2020. Carson City-based pet food crisis national organization receives Duffield foundation grant

Feeding Pets of the Homeless, a national animal welfare nonprofit based in Carson City, Nev., received a $3,000 grant from the Dave and Cheryl Duffield Foundation to provide financial assistance towards helping those in Northern Nevada.

Carson City Brewfest cancelled due to COVID-19, rescheduled for 2021

The Rotary Club of Carson City has announced that The Capital City Brewfest, scheduled for August 29th, will not take place this summer due to the COVID 19 virus.

The annual event, which funds the Rotary Club’s scholarships and youth programs, featured several dozen regional breweries and distilleries. The club has set the date of June 26, 2021 for the next Brewfest.

Carson City Kiwanis announces Virtual Meals on Wheels Fundraiser as a success

The Virtual Meals on Wheels fundraiser hosted by Carson City Kiwanis proved to be a big success.

The event raised $3,855.44, including a $1,000 anonymous donation and a donation from the club itself of $1,000 donation.

Carson City Kiwanis supports local causes serving children, youth, elderly and disabled. Focused on this mission, the club hosts an annual Bingo and Pasta Feed to support the Carson City Senior Citizen’s Center Meals on Wheels program. Unfortunately, like many other local events, the club was forced to cancel the April 2020 fundraiser due to COVID-19.

Carson City Volunteers Bring Benefits for Friends of the Nevada State Museum

Each year, CVS employees volunteer thousands of hours to nonprofit organizations in their communities. Joanne Dwyer, Director of the CVS Health Foundation, states that the CVS Health Foundation awards grants which supports these efforts and provides additional financial support to the causes supported by CVS employees. Grants, which range from $500 to $5,000, are awarded directly to the organization on the CVS employee’s behalf.

Carson City Mint 150th anniversary, fitness events, classic film showing and more Tuesday

Heading into Tuesday, the capital city will celebrate the 150th anniversary of the Carson City Mint with events throughout the day. Other activities include a morning and evening walk hosted by Muscle Powered, a dinner fundraiser for the Roman family at Pizza Factory, a community dinner and meeting invite to the Order of Eastern Star, a showing at the BAC of the 1941 film classic "The Lady Eve" and a concert featuring the Tahoe Symphony Orchestra and Chorus with violin soloist Elizabeth Pitcairn at Shepherd-Sierra Lutheran Church.
