Hello Carson City and welcome to Wednesday, July 10, 2019. We're looking at plenty of sunshine, warm temperatures and an extraordinary musical lineup today at Eagle Valley Golf Course in Carson City for the 11th annual Concert Under the Stars benefit for The Greenhouse Project. There's also art showings, Wheeled Food Wednesday at the BAC and more.

Heading into Monday, July 8, 2019 we want to give a big shout out to all the local organizations and agencies that made this Fourth of July weekend around the Carson City region one to remember. For Monday we're looking at a number of events including a basketball camp at the MAC, a children's theater camp, a local talk with the Carson City Airport manager, art activities, line dancing and more.

The Fourth of July will be colored with parades, barbecues, carnivals, concerts and plenty of fireworks around Carson City, Carson Valley, Lake Tahoe and Virginia City.

As we go forward and move ahead into Tuesday, July 2, 2019 we're looking at another sunny day, all the better as we prepare to celebrate Independence Day. Are you ready for July 4 fireworks at Mills Park? As a Tuesday warmup, get the heart pumping during Muscle Powered's three fitness outings. Plus there's art showings, hands-on science activities in Silver City, an evening archery shoot, a viewing of the 1953 film "From Here to Eternity" at the Brewery Arts Center hosted by the Carson City Classic Cinema Club and more. Heading into Monday, the first day of July 2019 we leave an action-packed weekend behind us with a long Independence Day holiday week ahead. The activities continue, albeit at a slower place for the first day of the work week. There's art showings and activities for adults and kids, a My Place Hotels job fair, a talk featuring the program director at Nevada Rural Counties Retired and Senior Volunteer Program, a swing dance class and more. Heading into Thursday, June 27, 2019, there's plenty to do and see around the Carson City area as we march toward an action-packed weekend. There's a morning Muscle Powered walk, Food Truck Thursday at Mills Park, a Farmers Market in Dayton, a discussion on climate change at Western Nevada College, a history presentation on Chinese woodcutters at the Nevada State Museum, a presentation by the NNDA Executive Director at a GOP monthly meeting, Cruise Night at Wing Stop, an information meeting on the Ross Gold Park master plan hosted by Carson City Parks, Recreation and Open Space. With a windy cool down headed our way, activities around the Carson City area Wednesday, June 26 will make for a breezy good time. Heading into Tuesday, June 18, 2019 we're looking at continued warming around the region with a daytime high around 91. Temperatures are expected to actually lower toward the end of the week. Events around town Tuesday include a Muscle Powered walk, hike and bike ride, yoga, exercises for the mind and body hosted by the Carson City Emblem Club, political gatherings, art activities and more.

Hello Carson City. It is Thursday, June 13, 2019. After last night's thunderstorms that shook around the capital city we're looking at plenty of sunshine today with a daytime high around 86. Activities lined up include workshops, an anniversary party and showing at Artsy Fartsy art gallery, Food Truck Thursday at Mills Park, a Kiwanis Club meeting and Chamber annual meeting at The Martin Hotel, Cruise Night at Bully's Sports Bar, live music outdoors at Living the Good Life and more. Heading into Wednesday, June 12, 2019 means we are half way through the work week. Temperatures will be around the 90 mark with a chance of afternoon showers. Activities lined up include art classes, a hike designed for tots through Carson City Parks and Recreation, a Ninja aerobic class at Yaple's Ballroom and you can hear local author CW Bayer talk about three of his books on area history at Browsers Corner Book Store. A big hello Carson City as we head into Monday, June 10, 2019. The first day of the work week will be a warm one, with highs in the upper 80s, according to weather forecasters. Looking ahead we have art showings, a talk about geothermal energy and live music lined up at A to Zen. Enjoy the day!

The Capital City Arts Initiative presents its exhibition, "New Crop 2019", by artists Mark Combs and Frances Melhop at the CCAI Courthouse Gallery. CCAI will host an opening reception on Friday, June 7, 5 to 7 p.m. The artists will give a brief talk about their work at 5:30 p.m. The exhibition will be in the gallery from June 7 to Sept. 26, 2019.

The University of Nevada, Reno through the weekend will be conferring 3,201 degrees, the most degrees ever distributed in one semester.

Due to inclement weather, all ceremonies were moved to the Lawlor Events Center instead of the University’s quad.

Robert C. Gray, 97, of Orinda, California passed away peacefully at home April 3, 2019. Robert was born in Oakland, California to Harry E. Gray and Kathleen S. Carter on August 13, 1921.

Robert was kind, energetic and lived a full life. He was an advanced stamp collector and in 1935 he attended the first Boy Scout National Jamboree at Washington D.C.

Jorge Pierrott, 43, loving husband and devoted father of two, passed away unexpectedly on April 3, 2019, in Carson City, Nevada.

CHS celebrated its Second Annual Carson Unplugged event this past week where staff and students were encouraged to unplug from technology and be present in the moment, enjoying more face-to-face interactions and less screen time.

CARSON CITY — In order to deliver on the objective of giving mountain bikers a true backcountry experience on world-class singletrack that challenges riders as much as it inspires and rewards, and allowing for extra snowmelt time in a potentially record-setting Sierra Nevada winter, Epic Rides announced a date change of the Carson City Off-Road from June 14-16 to June 28-30.

The spirit of Christmas and Hanukkah come to life as the 18-piece Reno Jazz Orchestra (RJO) presents, “A World of Joy,” featuring holiday music from the U.S. to Brazil, Puerto Rico, Israel, Russia, Austria and back.

Joining the RJO is Pat Esters' Gospel Choir, starring vocalists Pat Esters, Lori Johnson, David Wells, and Caitlin Collins. The Reno Youth Jazz Orchestra will open the show at the Reno performances.

The first shows are Dec. 15 at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 16 at 2 p.m. at the Cargo Concert Hall at Whitney Peak Hotel in Reno.
