Bump, Set and Spike: First Volleyball Club launched at Carson City's Pioneer High School

CARSON CITY — At Pioneer High School this week, students Charish Creon and Cassidy Lingenfelter started the school's own volleyball club, making it the first team sports club in the school's 21-year history.

Pioneer High School Scholar and Elite Spartan Athlete

Robert Collier wrote, "Success is the sum of small efforts — repeated day in and day out."

For James Nair, consistency, effort, and determination have lead him to a number of successes. James, a senior at Pioneer High School through the Carson Online program, competed in the Spartan Race’s Sacramento Super and Sprint Weekend on Nov. 3-4 held at the Van Vleck Ranch.

Carson Online alumnus attends UNR honors program

The University of Nevada, Reno, sent a letter to Pioneer High School in September congratulating the school and Carson Online for the acceptance of a 2017 graduate into a highly competitive UNR program.

Carson Online, Flexible School Choice

Carson Online, the Carson City School District’s online education program, was piloted at Pioneer High School in 2009. It has become a very successful online credit option for students in CCSD that has helped change culture, provide technological support, and has helped raise the graduation rate in our district. During the last school year, online options assisted over 970 students.

Pioneer High School and Carson Online Student Athlete Highlights

Pioneer High School offers the following athletic activities such as swimming, lifeguard certification, weightlifting, basketball, cross country skiing, downhill skiing at Mt. Rose, hiking, rock climbing at Rock Sport Reno, and several events through Project Discovery.

Pioneer High School, Carson Online student Regan Hammond recognized

Regan Hammond is a senior in the class of 2017 at Pioneer High School and Carson Online. She is being recognized and highlighted for her 4.59 GPA, successful progress towards her honors high School diploma, completion of 2 science summer camps, and attendance at the Annapolis science camp.

Carson Online education program helps Carson City students graduate

Carson Online, the Carson City School District’s online education program, was piloted at Pioneer High School in 2009. It has become a very successful online credit option for students that has helped change culture, provide technological support and has contributed to raising the graduation rate in the district.

An Early Graduate at Pioneer High School

Brooke Morris, a Carson Online and Pioneer High School student, is graduating early due to her ability to earn credits faster at PHS and Carson Online. At Pioneer, students can earn a minimum of 9 credits per year on the campus or they can also explore part/full time online options.

Pioneer High School Students Prepare for ACT

Juniors in the state of Nevada must take the ACT tests as one of the requirements to graduate from high school. The tests consist of math, reading writing and science.

Be sure to catch a news segment on KTVN Channel 2 Reno tonight that will focus on the Carson City School District's online learning program called Carson Online. The news segment will run sometime within the 5 p.m. newscast and if you missed it, it will air again during the 6:30 p.m. broadcast.
